Question about points

Dh and I signed up yesterday (Wednesday), so now we are waiting for all the paperwork to come. My question is do we get the points for this year as well and then again next September? I am very new to all this. My assumption is that we get the 160 this September and then again every Sept from here on out, am I right?

There is just so much to go over and learn about DVC!

You should have 160 points from 2006 UY available right now! If your UY is Sep., they should have allowed you to bank your points into 2007 UY since it is already the end of August. I would call your guide to ask him that. On Sep. 1 , 2007, you should have 320 points available. Welcome Home.
I just noticed your home resort is AKV, so, you do not get 160 2006 points. There was no points available then. You will get all your 160 on Sep. 1, 2007.

Thanks for the info. That is what I was thinking about the points just wanted to double check.

One other question, can I book a room now or do I have to wait till the whole closing is done? We are going in Feb and I wanted to try and get a room at AKV.

You should be able to book now. You may have to do it through your guide, since your info may not be in the system yet. He or she can check on availability for the time and resort you want, and if available, put it on hold until your points are available. It shouldn't take more than a day or so to access your points.

Based on your signature, I assume you purchased AKV. There are no 2006 UY points at AKV so your first set of points will be your Sep '07 points. Your next set will be your Sep '08 points and so on through the end of your contract.
