Question about points and reservations

If I book at our home resort for a week, I will need to borrow xx points from my next UY. If I am able to, I will switch to stay at a different resort which would be less points. Are my points left alone until I actually "use" them for the reservation? Does MS only check to see if they will be available for the reservation?

Thanks!

Once you borrow points, it is a final transaction and will stay in that use year. If your resort ends up costing less points, the best thing would be to keep those borrowed points in the reservation, and take the extra current use year points that are no longer being used (the extras), and bank those points to next year. Essentially it would be the same thing as if you didn't borrow them (except they can't be banked a 2nd time.)

I still don't understand. Sorry!:confused3

I will have 100 points for 2010 and will need to borrow 35 from UY2011. If I change at 7 months to a reservation that needs less than 100; can I bank the 39 to the 2011 UY so that I have 104 for 2011?
Thanks!

Once you borrow points, they cannot be unborrowed and put back into the next UY.

You can, however, ask for your current year points to be banked if you get the reservation that requires fewer points. Make sure they use the borrowed points and any current year points could be banked as long as you haven't passed your banking deadline.
