Question about pin back color...

Is there any special significance to pinback color? The pins I recently got at WDW (some bought, some traded) have a variety of colors on the backs---silver, gold, black, even one in bronze.

Most of the ones I traded for have the "official pin trading" stamp. Are the ones that are lacking this stamp and have a rough back or designs on back not "official"?
