Question about phrase "you've been hasselhoffed".

Something is very wrong with hubby's work computer. It isn't working and no one can figure it out. So the IT people are supposed to come to fix or replace it, but they didn't show up today. Finally he called them, explained, and the response he got was "oh, looks like you've been hasselhoffed". They told him that he'd have a desktop set up on Sunday, so that's good.

But he's mystified!

I can't find a thing that might make sense within this context! Dropping sandwiches, editing David H into pictures, having chest hair sticking out of your shirt...these have nothing to do with it! Even being irrelevant in the US and trying to make it big in Europe has nothing to do with the work computer situation.

Has anyone ever heard of this in an IT context, or a fixing broken things context? He's absolutely at a loss.

Aw, see, MScott1851 quoted me so my nonsensical parenthetical thought is still out there. I understand The Rule, but I did explain why I edited. And all the edit did was make my thoughts make MORE sense, not fundamentally change what I wrote.
