For those who have seen it, would it be suitable for a 7-yr old? I read the PG description and that description could be for several kids movies.

I'm not trying to push limits, just looking for facts to make a smart decision.

I would be cautious on that one. There are a several parts that might scare a 7 yr old. One definitely would since several adults jumped and screamed. There is a scene where one is a little tipsy from drinking. There is nothing revealing, but several kissing scenes. I loved the movie, but it's got some dark parts in it.

I was definitely surprised that HBP was rated PG. It had scary parts that seemed much more nightmarish than would be appropriate for PG. Wasn't OOTP rated PG13? DD11 and I both felt HBP was darker and scarier than OOTP.

I took my 6 year old and he was not scared. He didn't even jump when I did. It wasn't as scary as OOTP or GOF.

Have you read the book? There's only two situations, one involving a werewolf, the other a wizard battle, that weren't reproduced in the movie.

Everyone around me jumped at one scene, and we ALL knew it was coming.
(They had a trivia contest beforehand and the competition was fierce, lol. Very knowledgeable group.)

There are a few scenes that could startle skittish kids and leave them with a fear of drowning or falling. Not to mention the "snogging" (making out) that pervades the movie - he might not be interested, lol. (My kids yelled out "Face Suck!" -- we made them stop immediately, of course.)

I wouldn't take a seven-year old. When my kids were young, I let them watch it on TV/DVD, but not on the big screen.
