question about paying with mobile ordering

Everything that I've read about the new mobile ordering says that using the service requires paying with a credit card, not the DDP or cash.

So does that actually mean that it immediately charges your credit card or is it included with your total room charges? We usually charge everything to our room with our MagicBands and then pay as much of that balance as we can with gift cards before we check out and the card on file gets charged. So I was curious if using mobile ordering would cause each meal purchase to hit our credit card directly.

This is possibly a dumb question that has already been answered.

It's a good question. In order to mobile order, you have to have a credit card registered on your My Disney Experience account. The food you order is charged directly to your credit card, NOT to your resort room account. There is currently no way to use mobile ordering and pay with a gift card, or use a discount program, or use dining plan credits.

Hopefully, those things are coming soon.

That is how it worked for us a few weeks ago. On property, set up for room charges, did mobile order a few times and each time it went direct to my credit card.

Same here. Did it a couple of times about 2 weeks ago and came directly off card.
 
How do you know if you have a credit card registered in your MDE account? (I'm DVC so my room is not paid for with a credit card. When I did online check-in, it did not ask me for a credit card.)

On the website....sign in to MDE. Go to My Profile. Scroll down to Payment Method and choose it.

On the app...sign in to MDE. Go to My Account. Scroll down to Payment Method and choose it.

We used a different CC for mobile ordering than the one on our MDE, it took longer because we had to enter CC#, address, phone etc etc but we were able to use it.
