Question about parking

When you get an AP and you have parking on that AP and you stay at one of the Disney hotels, do you have to park in the day parking lot, or do you get to park free at the Disney Hotel parking lot? (I am thinking about this coming year, 2011 when the hotels will start charging for parking).

Where did you hear you have to pay for parking at the hotels next year?!


Okay I just looked up more info on this because it worries me I couldn't find anywhere on the Disney site that confirmed this, just outside sources. According to the DL site, the AP parking is for any "pay-as-you enter" lot, which I would then assume would not include hotels (as they are pay-as-you exit).

The places that talk about the parking fee also have been saying they won't have a resort fee anymore, so on the plus side, it would be pretty much a wash.

This is a good question. Disney has confirmed that hotel parking will not be free next year.


I'm not sure how they will handle APs but I hope it would still be free when they stay at the hotels. It sounds fair to me.

AP holders (the APs that have free parking) have the "right" to park at the park parking lots.

I've only seen a very poorly worded podcast mention of the change in fees next year. What I've seen, to me, indicates that *package* buyers will be paying parking fees, if they have a car... But that's just the thing I've read. I haven't seen anything official, and I would love to.

But if they do away with the actual resort fee...well that is EXACTLY what TONS of people here have been wanting them to do! They've said repeatedly they don't want a resort fee, they want to pay for what they use, they don't read the newspaper, they don't park a car, etc etc etc... This should be the answer to everyone's dreams! (if they are doing away with the resort fee and not just taking on parking fees)

But if they did let AP-with-parking holders park at the hotels for free, that would be NEW, because it doesn't currently happen.

Since we drive, I would rather have paid the resort fee. It was cheaper than the new parking fee.

Where is the mention of the parking fee? I just started a room-only res and also a package res, and while the resort fee mention is gone for 2011, I'm not seeing mention of the parking fee.

Oh wait, found it. Had to sign in and really act like I was booking, then clicked on the T&C link. "COSTS NOT INCLUDED:

Parking (self and valet) as applicable...."

That's the package, let's check the room only...same!


I like knowing *specifics*, the exact info. That's why I just did that (and posted for others to know).



the donut, the DVC part of the hotel is tiny compared to the rest of the hotel. And to change the parking structure there, all they have to do is wait until the yearly "contract" stuff comes up for renewal, and change it. As far as I know.



I wonder if the parking fee will be a flat 15, or if it will have the same 15% tax added like the resort fee does. Turns $12 into $13.80!
