We're coming down to Universal in October (HHN! HHN!). BUT, we are doing this trip as budget conscious as possible. So, I was wondering if there's any discount parking at Universal? Any coupons, or other types of discounts that I'm unaware of (i.e. AAA parking at Disney).

Thanks for the help!!!

None that I've ever seen...the daily rate is $12.00 unless you have an AP.

Parking in US garages is usually $12 before 5p.m. There is FREE parking after six, except on designated special nights and valet (most likely this will not be offered on HHN. I don't beleive there is any discounts for parking.

When we go, we usually pay for the valet service. The max it'll cost is $22 (it's all based on how long you stay), but it beats that long, exhausting hike to the garages when you leave. It's a bit more expensive, but we generally find the valet worth the price upon leaving.

Hope this helps.

I was saying that same thing to my DH a couple days ago about valet parking. We've never done it before but I figured anything's gotta be better than that looong walk back to the garage parking after being in the park all day.

We have stayed on-site the past few years so we valet at the hotel. When we did drive to the park we always valet parked. It is so worth not have to deal with the parking garages and the hike to and from the parks. My husband questioned if it was worth the money and as I told him it sure is and if I can't afford the difference between valet and parking on our own then I shouldn't be on vacation at Universal/Disney. Go for the valet.

Good point..That garage gets huge after a long day of walking around the parks :thumbsup2

I don't believe they offer any parking discounts at the hotels since they aren't owned by Universal. If I'm wrong, someone can correct me.

okay, i had an issue with parking at the hrh last year and i was just trying to avoid another issue - we had 2 rooms and 1 car and they charged us for valet for the car we actually had and self parking for the car we didnt - when i told them about it they said prove i didnt really have 2 cars - there was only 3 of us and my daughter was 13 at the time so after about 20 minutes of heated discussion a manager came over and removed the self parking fees.

this is all because they messed up our reservations and some how we ended up with 2 connecting rooms when we only reserved one and paid for one and of course we just took them and didnt say a word - i guess that was my punishment.

huh, you got two rooms and only paid for one due to a clerical error....?
and complained for car parking then.........

and then had that waived for the invisible second car....

$12 a night is cheap

sorry you had a hassle over parking.
when there has been an error in my billing at hrh, it was always taken care of smoothly.

guess we all have different experiences.
that happens in a business, some get peaceful vacations and some have to argue over the discrepancies.

it wasnt so much that i cared about the price but the boyfriend insisted that i get it waived - the ressie were in my name but we gave his cc at check in. hey for 36.00 i got another room you cant beat that.

he was also a little ticked when he saw the bill at check out because he decided he was going to watch the yankees/indians playoff game in the bar at the hrh and ended up with a 200 bar bill when he woke up - yes it was a saturday night we didnt do HHN and he was at the bar from around 9 until they made he leave which i believe was around 2 - he made some friends from the bronx and i think they were playing "beer wars" ( thats what we call it up here, when someone buys you a drink you buy one back and then they buy and you buy, but you have to buy for everyone in that group and since he was alone and the people he met werent it cost him more to buy a round than it did them)

also the staff at the HRH all seemed to be on edge the whole weekend we were there, i dont know if since it was columbus day weekend and the hotel was sold out if that had a lot to do with it or what, i did notice the one day the maid didnt service our room until almost 6 and we were on the second floor.

sorry to ramble

Do they have any weekly specials for parking? Can you get a parking pass for the whole week?

if you are a guest at the hotel, there are no coupons for discounted parking.
they do not run specials for parking either. no blue light special at the loews hotels.

now, if you are staying for a long time, maybe a couple of weeks, and you addressed the issue of discount parking with the hotel GM, that could be an option for you.

i am not saying you will get a discount but you never know if you don't ask and especially if you are a repeat, regular customer at the hotel.

i have read some trip reports of the brits that come and stay at the same hotel each year for 15-21 days straight.
they rent a car and have made arrangements for perks with the hotel GM

there are many posters that go to universal up to 3-4 times a year and always stay at their favorite on site hotel. with them spending that much time and money at a hotel, i'm sure they would get the perk of a favorite room or location for their stay.

don't know about parking though.
i no longer rent cars on my vacations, i use car service. prior to that, i would park a car at the hotel for my entire stay and pay the parking fee.
i realized that i paid more for parking than i did for the rental car......

i don't venture off the hotel/park grounds anymore.
i have been doing disney since 1972 and universal since 1992 and have explored orlando area so many times in the past years.
now i just do the parks and enjoy the time at the hotels.

you would be surprised on how much money i save now by cutting out the mall shopping trips.........

There is also "Preferred Parking" that is $17 per day when we were there last week (instead of the normal $12 per day rate). We paid for it and it seemed to save us some time. Our parking was on the main skybridge level right near the bag check area for both days were were there (9/25, 9/26). The extra $5 was well spent in my opinion. And the lines of vehicles waiting to get into the parking garage on 9/26 to get into HHN were crazy, by the way.
