Question about Pal Mickey...

Sorry this is a duplicate thread (didn't know where to post it !) - but I was wondering if anyone knows if it would be worth taking the Pal Mickey to the parks that we purchased on a previous trip. I know it would have to be "updated", but are they still being used down there? Would appreciate any info you might have on this !!

Pal Mickey will still function. It doesn't need any "updates"; it will get loaded with new information when you enter the park. Be aware, however, that Disney is discontinuing the manufacture and sale of Pal Mickey, but will still support Pal Mickey in the Parks.

Yes, its being discontinued. We have one... but I think it needs new batteries. They will still operating in the parks, its true, but as soon as they sell out of the ones already in the parks at the moment, the only way you could get one is ebay. So if they aren't sold out already... and you would like one, go ahead and get it.

I have a question, If they are going to stop selling them in park and discontinue them altogether will they still update the info on them each time u take the to the park for those that have already bought it??

all they have said is that they will still function in the parks

They will probably update it if they add attractions or something like that, but besides that I dont think they will change anything tink.

Hmm.. I wonder why they decided to discontinue them in the first place.
Must have not been as popular or as much of a money maker as they wanted.

Yeah, probably. They've been selling them for years too. Before the 50th celebration, im not sure which year though.

this will be my family's first trip to WDW and after reading about the Pal Mickey's I ordered 2 from eBay for my children (that way there will be no fighting) and now after hearing there will be no more new ones, I'm very glad I was proactive and didn't wait to buy them at the park.
