Ok, this is the first time I'm doing one so forgive me for not knowing something that's probably very basic. The class doesn't start until next week, but I'm trying to get the books and everything else needed. When I click the course I get "not available at this time." When I click availability, it gives the names of other students and instructors. Is it appropriate to click "chat availability" (when it says available) to ask the instructor what materials are needed? Any info would be appreciated. I don't know my online class etiquette!

Email him! There have been a lot of times I've emailed professors to ask questions before the class starts. I doubt your professor would be available to chat before the class starts.

Have you checked with the bookstore to see what was on order?

If you go the bookstore at the campus where your school is and tell them what class you are taking they can help you out. Have a great class

I agree - email your professor.

I teach college classes and I have students email me before classes start all the time and I don't mind at all. It usually impresses me actually because it shows me they are responsible. :thumbsup2
