I was wondering if anyone has an answer to my question. We are staying at OKW for the first time in March 14-19. We would like to request a studio on second floor cornor unit(I have a child who is a little bit claustrophobic with people on either side) in building 55 by the quiet pool as we would prefer to be away from the busy main pool and HH for spring break. If we wanted to go to the main pool or HH for a visit is there parking available as we will have a car. How likely will our request of being "away" from the HH and main pool be accommodated? Any sugestions on how to make this request?

I would call and pretty much say what you said here.

The CM's will do the best they can to help.

Building 55 2nd floor is a very popular request (my favorite) you might have a better chance to say canal front upper floor, that would add 2 more buildings and the 2nd an 3rd floor on 2 of them, that are within easy walking distance of the south point QP. You also might want to put upper floor as you first request since the vegetation does make the 1st floor units feel “closed in”.

I agree, I would make your request more general. My experience at OKW is they don't pre-assign rooms so the front desk will work with you on finding an open room that meets your requests.

That's what I thought too-that they don't preassign rooms. I liked that-we always got a choice at the front desk. However, unfortunately on our trips in the last couple years, the room was preassigned.

They do pre-assign rooms at OKW, but you can often change the assignment at the time of check-in---if there are room available.

FYI...ALL studios are on the outside ends of the buildings. There are no interior studios at OKW. I think requesting South Point would get you the farthest from HH, and that is our favorite area to stay. Buildings 45 and 46 are best, but any at South Point are good.

Not exactly. There are corner intererior studios in the "U" shaped buildings. 14, 18, 35 and 38. There are two adjacent (not connecting) studios in the corners of the U. So while the studios are on the ends of each wing of the buildings, there are some studio next door to each other.

Oh yeah, and I should have remembered that, since we stayed in a 1 bedroom at OKW in one of those buildings (14) last week. They don't really feel confined though because of the balcony.

Just my 2 cents....stay away from building 29. We had an end studio on the ground floor and the noice from the buses was horrible, and the "view" from our small balcony was of the airconditioning units.

Most folks want to be close to HH. Since you don't, you probably have a good chance at getting your request. Good luck!

I'd request Southpoint, upper floor. If you get too specific with building numbers etc. it gets more difficult for them to honor your request.

I was in building 35 once. We had a studio without a window next to the door. The room had an odd shape, I guess because it was at the bottom of the U.

Yes, the studios in the bottom crossbar of the "U" have no front windows.

Interesting you should note that. We have stayed at OKW well over 40 times and building 29 was, without a doubt, the WORST location ever. Had a one or two bedroom on the ground floor and our view was bushes and trees---period. We've deceided if they every give us that location again we will pick-up and move to the beyond-awful Sheraton Safari out of protest!

Bldgs 28 and 29 ahave a great deal of shrubbery around them, and the views, expecially the lower floors, are restricted. This is likely due to the golf course. I'd rather have a limited view than to be injured or killed by a wayward golf ball. Have you heard on hit the side of the building? It sounds like a gunshot, they hit HARD.

We have always stayed in other buildings and when I have read about others complaining of bus noise, I just didn't get it....until our little get-a-way romantic weekend with just the 2 of us:lmao: It's hard to get romantic when there is a constant grinding of gears right out your window....hee hee hee.

Chuck: you are right, we have heard the golf balls hit the unit, it scared the pants off us once. Thought the window broke. We were there for Huricane Wilma and didn't hear a peep...but one ball made us all jump.

Without a doubt, buildings 28 and 29 are the worst! I always wonder if those are the buildings they put the poor shmucks who want to "be near HH" when they haven't booked the HH catagory!:confused3

Windows are very important. It makes our child very jittery when in the room if there is no window to the outside. This is why a cornor unit in best for us. It just makes for a more enjoyable stay and since we plan on being around the resort more this visit it is more important. Always prefer a motel type accomodation with exterior walkways to the hotel with all the interior hallways. So to clairify my best bet it to request a:

Southpoint 2floor/upperfloor cornor studio near the quiet pool. Really either of the 46,55,56 buildings would be fine. Does anyone recommend that we try to get to OKW as early in the am as possible to confirm this at check in and be willing to wait for any possible rooms that match opening up that day. Would this give us more chances of getting what we want? We will be traveling in from Daytona that day so we could get there early if we wanted.

Thanks in advance for all of your advice on this.
