I am having my wedding "reception" dinner at O'hana in September and there will be 26 people in my party...

does O'hana rush you when eating? I'd really like to be able to take our time, enjoy all the food, talk and socialize, and just relax at dinner.. I hope they don't try to rush everyone out!

thanks!

I would think they wouldn't rush since it is a wedding. But if they do rush simply inform the server you would like them to slow the courses down. I am guessing they might put you in the room that is not in the main area just because you are such a large group but I'm not for sure. Now if you want to just hang out for 4 hours they may not be too happy because I'm sure they took other ADR's and wouldn't be able to seat everyone. But I understand wanting to talk and mingle.

"Rush" is a matter of perception.

The food at 'Ohana comes fast and in great quantities; many people interpret this as an attempt to rush you out the door, but it's not. Rather, it's an attempt to keep plenty of food on your table at all times.

Even when dining solo, I can't get out of 'Ohana in less than 45 minutes. Large parties tend to take as much as 90 minutes, and a giant party like yours will be in the restaurant for at least 2 hours.

Since you have such a large party, ask to speak to the manager when you check in at the podium, and request that a server be assigned specifically to your group. Depending on their labor situation that night, your request might not be granted, but it's worth a shot, and will make things a little easier on all concerned if your party has only one server to deal with, and that server has only one party to deal with.

thank you so much for the advice! I will definitely call the restaurant maybe the day before just to remind them that I am coming with a large party and then upon arrival ask what they can do to accomidate us.

I wasn't thinking we'd be there for four hours... but yes, maybe something along the lines of 2.

thanks again!

Ive never been rushed at Ohana. And all of the large groups that I've seen while there have never appeared to be rushed. Speak to manager and let them know you dont want to be rushed. And I would just take my time and ask the servers to slow down if they are coming out to fast. Congrats!
