Hi everyone,

We have four adults in our party, plus one 17 year old and an infant. Are we OK staying at the Disneyland hotel since it says it sleeps 5?

Thanks!

According to your description, you have a party of 6. If you stay at the DLH, it sounds like you will need 2 rooms or a suite. The occupancy limit is set by the fire marshall, so the rules are strict for safety reasons. Have you called the DLH to ask about which rooms would work for a group of 6?

This post from the Disney Moms Panel answers your question:

I am delighted that you are considering staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel during your next visit. No matter which of the three you choose, you will love the short stroll to the parks and having Extra Magic Hour every day of your stay! The maximum occupancy for most standard rooms is five people, and that includes infants. This maximum is set by the State Fire Code and is strictly enforced. So for your family of six, you would need to book one of the suite options or two standard rooms. The suites will not only allow you all to sleep safely and comfortably, but will provide adequate room for luggage and necessities and space for the kids to spread out and play. I suggest giving the Vacation Packages line a call at (714) 520-5060 to see if they can search all available room options for you.

There are several good neighbor hotels who will have better prices for your group if getting two rooms or a suite at DLH becomes too expensive. I just did all of this research for an upcoming trip in January with my parents. The Residence Inn Anaheim Convention Center is super nice, and even has a couple of options with two bathrooms. Courtyard by Marriott Theme Park has a Park view suite, Hotel Indigo, and the Park Vue Inn has a big suite with four queen beds or a room with two queens and a sleeper sofa in another room. Ultimately we chose Park Vue due to proximity to the parks, we’ve stayed here before and know that it’s clean and the staff is great, and price. There are other options out there but these were my faves.

Max occupancy of 5 means 5. A 6th person is not allowed no matter how small they are.
All the best.
Exactly. This is similar to the way TS reservations work at DLR: count all persons in the reservation, whether they are in a high chair or a lap or a seat. It doesn't matter whether that person will be ordering food. The restaurant needs an accurate count of all persons for the fire marshall in case of an emergency evacuation -- how many people were listed inside and how many people were evacuated. The lists had better match.
