We are heading to Disney World in two weeks and my wife recently started using the Nutrisystem diet plan to try and lose some weight.

Does anyone have any advice about being on Nutrisystem while being at Disney World?

She already knows where our ADRs are and has been looking at the menus online, but any additional help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for anyone that can point us in the right direction.

FYI ... she already off to a great start, having lost 11 pounds in just two weeks!

I don't much about Nutrisystem other than they offer pre-packaged meals. Having said that I lost 40 lb through a change in lifestyle and have kept it off; it's about portion control for me. I believe Nutrisystem's portions are considered small but are actually what they should be. I would suggest your wife split entrees with someone if that's an option. I don't think she can bring her own food into restaurants and frankly, what fun would that be? If it's just the two of you then I would help her by not adding temptation as this new way of eating is far from habit after only four weeks. :goodvibes

Congratulations to your wife and her great start! I've lost 52 lbs on Nutrisystem so far and it has been a great plan / lifestyle retraining for me. You might have more luck asking your question on the Nutrisystem community forums: http://boards.members.nutrisystem.com/ People there are great and very helpful / knowledgeable regarding the plan. Good luck and have a wonderful trip!!!

A simple way to think about it is deficit. You have to create one every day to lose weight/fat. The calc to use is take your weight and add a zero to it...example - 165 lbs = 1650 calories. That is what you should eat to maintain your weight. If you want to lose weght you have to create a calorie deficit. Eat 1300 calories a day and you will lose weight - even with a cheat day or two. Or you can eat 1650-1900 calories a day as long as you do exercise that creates the deficit - example - Hour on treadmill burns 300-500 calories depending on intensity, thus creating your deficit.

At WDW you can easily eat 1600-2000 calories in one or two meals, but if you are a park go getter, you most likely burn 300-500 calories in 12-15 hours of walking the parks. We are go getter types and I usually gain 2-4 pounds during a week of ADR's - good ones too :goodvibes. I really think all the walking keeps it in check.

It will be very difficult to enjoy ADR's if you are calorie counting, unless you are already determined to eat salads and baked chicken the whole time. It sure is tough sitting there watching others eat all that good stuff enjoying their vacation. Maybe pick out the ADR's you want to cheat on and stick to it or initiate your daily deficit by an early morning walk or jog.

Best of luck and most of all make your plan so you can have an enjoyable vacation!

Is she planning on bringing the Nutrisystem food with you? Of course she can't eat them in the restaurants, but if she makes healthy choices (salads, fish, chicken) and uses portion control (one tip is to ask for a box when the meal comes out and right away box up half of it) she should be able to maintain until she can get home and go back on the meal plan. She could still bring the Nutrisystem snacks and easy things like the cereals with you though.

They normally list a healthy option on the menu to let you know that a dish is lower in calories/carbs/ect for dieters. She can always order things without sauces and dressings and most places will let you sub vegies for potato dishes (the only place I had trouble subbing at was Paridiso37 (not that I would reccomend the place anyway).
