Question about NorthFace sizing

Thinking about getting a Northface Oso jacket for DD14 for Christmas during the Macys F&F sale but I don't know what size to get. I'm going to buy it online so she won't be able to try it on first and it will be a surprise too.

She wears a size S for pants and M for tops at Aeropostale. She has a Cabella fleece jacket in women's S that runs a bit big on her.

The Northface sizing chart seems to indicate she'll need a Medium bit I don't want it to be swimming on her because I want her to be able to wear it under a LLBean down jacket I bought her already on really cold days. The LLBean jacket is a Medium which she tried on in the store before buying. It is loose so she can wear bulkier stuff underneath.

She's about 5'4" 110lbs. 34C. She wears size 3 juniors bottoms and size 2 women's dresses.

Any thoughts on sizing for her?

In addition, besides the NF Oso are there other brands I should look at? She likes that soft cozy feel of the Oso and I want her to have a hood. But other than that she doesn't care about brand names (yet).

Thanks.

My DD18 wears a 0 or 2 and Small and Mediums from AE, Hollister, etc. She tired on a North Face Denali over the weekend and she needed a medium. They tend to run small.

Agreed...a slight bit small, but I think they are designed to be snug.

Are you talking about kids or women's sizes?

I fit in a kids XL North Face Denali, I'm 5 7, 125 lbs.

My DD is 11 and big for her age, 95% for height. She has plenty of room in a kids XL. She's probably more of a kids Large.

If you are talking kids sizes, I would go with a Large if you want it snug or XL if you want some room.

Women's sizes, I'd go small.

I'd get the kids XL though b/c they are cheaper than adults.

If you're arms aren't overly long, a kids XL would work. My niece and dd both have kids XL denalis. However, I'm buying an adult m for my dd today ( well , she is with bday money) because she doesn't like the arm length on the kids XL. She has freakishly long arms and legs though.

I was looking at womens sizing but will take a look at children's.

She has normal arms. Lol. BUT I notice she likes to pull her sleeves over her hands.

I'll probably wind up buying her a women's jacket.

So hard to buy without being able to have her try on. 18 months ago, she use to wear form fitting clothes. I knew exactly what she liked to wear and bought accordingly. THEN she started getting "bigger" in the chest. LOL. And she stopped wearing everything in her closet and started wearing sweaters and more loose fitting clothes.

As much as she is pickier about what she wears, she doesn't like to buy her own clothes. When we go into a store, she stands there like a dummy and waits for ME to pick things out for her and ask her if she likes each one.

Thanks for all the advice! Although, I STILL haven't made a decision on size yet.

Well I was leaning toward the adult jacket but then I looked at the children's and I actually like the 2 tone colors better! Why are the adult Oso jackets the solid color?
