Question about new dates in May

Hi! We have been interested in the South Africa trip for a while. We planned on booking Christmas/New Year's 2014-2015 but when the last set of dates were added, the trip began almost a whole week before the school break begins (December 17, 2014). With a high school Junior in our family, missing a whole week of school doesn't work. My question is: when they add new dates in May, is it possible/likely they will add a new South Africa trip right after the one they have scheduled or will they jump right into the following year (2015-2016). Any insight anyone?

tsgirl, we are in the exact same boat! We had totally planned to do the Africa trip this Christmas, but DD will also be a junior and cannot miss a week, especially with block scheduling!

We booked Italy instead (join us? :)) and are hoping to do SA either her senior year when a week off shouldn't matter as much, or when she's in college and the breaks are longer.

I so wish ABD had more options in line with our holiday break, but I suppose breaks are different all over the US. Anyway, generally when new dates are released from what I've seen they are for the next season's trips. (although if I'm wrong about that, someone who's been more active on these boards lately will surely post and let you know!)

Thanks for the quick replay Kristilew. We generally don't like to go to Europe in the winter. We all hate cold weather, and SA at Christmastime is in their summer season. Maybe we'll book together for the following Xmas, when our kids are Seniors :). Right now, we are focusing on our ABD this summer to Prague and Austria!

You will have a great trip, I'm sure! I've done both independently and they were magical. With ABD in charge they are sure to be beyond amazing! I especially loved Prague - had a week to kick around by myself and now I want to take DD there!

I certainly can't say I've always noticed, but from what I remember, they are more likely to schedule past the end of the year (in May of 2013, adding some stuff in early 2015 as well as 2014) then to add something to the end of the current year. Of course, they have occasionally added special Winter/Christmas time trips at the end of the same year, but they've generally been new Winter version itineraries that they introduced mid-year, and not an established trip like SA. Hopefully someone who has actually been watching this sort of thing will chime in.
