question about multiple master contracts

Here's our situation: DW and I own at SSR with a December UY, and have a AKL addon. Recently we inherited some $$$, and wanted to make a gift of DVC to our kids. So we bought a new master contract at OKW, also with December UY, on which we included our three children. We wanted them to be full owners, with full owner privileges :cool1: , beyond the "associate" membership which they already have on our SSR and AKV contracts.

My question: how will that work at the DVC member web site? :surfweb: Will I have a totally separate login for the new master contract, or will I be able to access all of my contracts through the same login? I realize that, as far as DVC is concerned, they are two separate entities for reservations, banking, etc., and that the points cannot be "pooled". I am just wondering how it works for accessing online information.

For the most part our kids will be using the points, but there may be times when DW and I want to use the 11-month window at OKW, so I want to be able to easily keep track of usage. :thumbsup2

You will have a separate login and will need to access the memberships separately. I normally print out my ressies.

Also when you call MS, they will need to switch between screens to see both of your memberships. I normally start with 1 and then move on to the next membership.

The biggest issue I have with 2 contracts is waitlisting. I normally forget to waitlist on both contracts. If the waitlist comes thru on my March UY, I cant use my Sept UY points to book it and vice versa. I can transfer, but with the transfer rule you can only do that once.

Sorry I read that you where wanting to BUY a contract not that you already had one. liferbabe has good idea to follow.

We have four separate memberships at 2 resorts - each with a unique membership number and can access the Member's site with one login and see all 4 contracts on the same screen.

When calling MS, I do need to identify which membership number is being used for the current transaction, but the website shows me all of our information at once.

If you purchase multiple master contracts, all titled the same you should be able to see them all at once on the member site. Since it sounds as though your additional contract is not titled the same as the first (since the children are also on the deed) so you will likely need separate logins to see each account.

You are very brave to add all three to one contract. Wonderful to give the kids this gift. But you may want to think about doing 3 seperate contracts, one for each child. So there is no problems with who is doing/getting their share. I can see problems that may come in the future. Have dealt and seen people deal with things like this and each having their own is a better idea.

I understand what you're saying, but we didn't inherit THAT much! :scared1:

Actually, we would have loved to have done what you said, but three separate master contracts would have been too much financially. Of course, I suppose we could have gone through outside resale instead of Disney -- to avoid the 150 point minimum on a new master contract -- but then we would have had the hassle of 3 ROFR's and all of that.

Perhaps we're naive to think that our kids will continue to get along, but as 20-somethings they're all pretty mature, and all love Disney (they were all three CM's at one time), so we're willing to take the risk of future problems. At this point, they've agreed to trust their Old Man to be the "keeper of the points", to let them know how much of their portion they have available, etc., to make sure all is fair.

As an example of how cooperative they've been: DD25 is planning on getting married at WDW sometime in 2008. The other two have agreed to donate their points for an OKW Grand Villa for a couple of days for the rehearsal and reception. Of course, they'll all get to stay there, but it's still pretty nice of them.

Our contracts are titled differently, so that explains it.:thumbsup2
