Question About Multiple ADRs for Same Time

What's your experience with this? Do they accept multiple reservations for the same night? If you had a party of 6 going and one or two cancelled, would you just show up and let them downsize you or take your chance that they would not be able to seat you at all?

It's the usual problem - we've invited a total of six, and one or two have now waffled. Would my best bet be to make ADRs for 4 (the committed number going)? Would they even accept them if they saw I have another for a party of 6 on the same night?

I've seen these threads often but never been in the situation. I'm pretty much a rule follower, so I suspect the best thing to do will be to just wait until I know a number for sure and try to modify if possible.

Thanks for any input!!!!

I'd think I'd just make the ADR for the maximum number that I thought would be coming- then if someone doesn't show tell them that the other people had to cancel unexpectedly? I mean, it may not be the complete truth, but it seems that'd be easier to seat 4 than 6 anyway, so it shouldn't be a huge deal? I mean, if you know for sure before your trip you could call and try to change your ADR, but if you're not sure...

I would make your ADRs as soon as you can with the six people. You can always call back later and change it to four. I can't tell you how many times we changed our ADRs before our last trip! However, it was nice to know we had something just in case we couldn't get in somewhere else.

I don't think they would let you make multiple reservations for the same time. The CM will see all of your reservations when you call.

I had the same "problem" last year. We had a party of 9 going but my sister's family of 3 were undecided about a couple of the ADR's. When I questioned WDW reservations about it, they said to go on ahead and make the plans for 9 and if plans changed, it would be okay to go along with 6 or whatever number wanted to go. The person told me it's harder for them to plan on less and you bring more people to the table than for you to plan on more and bring less. As for multiple ADR's.... If I'm reading this right.... In my opinion, it's not "right" to make multiple ADR's because you're actually making it more difficult for someone else to be able to make one.... Your multiple ADR's would be taking up tables that others are hoping to get. :sad2:

We have the same issue; the CM said to make reservations for the largest party and we can always try to downsize before we come once we know or show up with fewer people. We have shown up with fewer people many times and it's never a problem; however, showing up with additional people is always a problem =)

Making multiple reservations will 1) tie up a table that another party could instead book and 2) run the risk of getting canceled by Disney without your input. Not worth the risk!

Ditto!
