Ok so I have taken a long break from the boards and Disney, NOT BY CHOICE I MIGHT ADD!
I love Disney and I am addicted to disney, I eat, drink, sleep, dream, and do everything else disney, however we have had to take a break due to finances changing when we became a 6 person family in February of this year with our 2 nephews moving in with us and us taking legal guardianship over them.
So with the time away there is something I need some info about.

I wanted to know if during MTOTP if the rides in the park are open along with all the other festivities?

I can't remember and I am really hoping so because with the cost being so cheap and my husband still having a valid AP untill October 19th we are thinking that we could go ahead and at least pay the $26.00 per ticket AP price and least get a little Disney in since I miss it so much and it is soooooooooo much cheaper for all 6 of us to go to that at $26.00 per ticket verses what it cost for a day for the 6 of us.

Also this is not really abut disney but it does not hurt to ask, because maybe someone will have an answer or know of a place.

I know that there are foundations out there that grant wishes to terminally ill children but does anyone know if there are foundations that grant wishes for young children who have gone through horrific abuse at the hands of their biological parents as well as losing their biological parents to the prison system?

Just a thought??

Our nephews are only 5 and 6 and went through some horrible things and really badly want to a trip DL because they have heard us talking about our trips and also now have seen all our photos seeing as how they live with us.

We thought maybe we would be able to at least take them on a over night trip there but that just has not been possible seeing as how adding 2 boys to our family with the income we had has made things really tight and we did not realize that it would cost us so much to go through the court system for all the legal stuff and guardianship, so I got to thinking that maybe there was a program out there like the ones that grant wishes for ill children who might do the same for children with my nephews circumstances?

Thanks in advance for all the answers to my questions.

And Hello again to everyone!!! It feels ggod to be logged back in after so long.....just had been way too busy with all the changes and you know the children always come first!

We took our kids to the MTOTP last year as a special "we're too poor for Disney right now" trip. Most of the rides are open and we really took advantage of the short lines.

Not sure about answering your other questions, but kudos to you for taking in those two boys.

congrats on taking the boys !! I did the same thing ,took 2 boys, both when they were born. its hard but not to bad if you plan things accordingly. Shop at nicer thrift stores, my kids dress in the latest styles as rich folk drop off there nice things and I get it for only a few bucks.
shop off season, always ! I got the kids 2 new coats each by buying them in April, I got 159.00 coats for 29.00 each!
If you budget now you could save up for a nice 2 or 3 day over night trip!
I take my kids every year, and we budget so hard for it, but its totally worth it!
We skim 20.00 off our grocery bill off each week, and all extra change goes into a jar. my kids all do extra work for family and friends and that money goes into there banks.
I went thru the court system for them many times, often times the parents getting free lawyers. :headache: but 2 more mouths to feed is not hard when you scale back, save ,plan and Im sure taking those little ones in you will get money and medical for them. I opted out of all that and still did well being a single gram ma and working. why? because I did not want the welfare system in our lives. I adopted instead. But if your not adopting at this point in time, you can get money and medical for them as well as food stamps.
there are many organizations out there to help you :) as far as disney, not sure about any organizations to help, but in time you can all go if you budget and plan :)

Thank you so much DangerMouse for your reply. I was excited to see that most of the rides will be open because this was a we are too poor for DL right now trip for us to and at least a little way to give to our nephews something they sooooooooooo deserve and something joyful. I will be sad to be right across the way from DL and not be able to take them in to DL but I will be greatful that at least we are blessed enough to be able to do at least this. I just have a deep need to bring as much joy and happiness to my nephews as I can with all that they have been through and I can't think of any better way to do that than DISNEY!!!!! KWIM?

Teatime thanks so much for taking the time to reply and for your kind words and helpful hints.:goodvibes
We too wanted to do this on our own and we actually jumped in and took the boys into our home a day before CPS was going to take them into custody for the 3rd time.
We are not getting any help but that is because my husband is a proud man and feels that we should not rely on the Government to assist us with an obligation that we commited ourselves to, so we are much like you in that sense.
We do have a savings plan thought out and will eventually make it back to DL for a nice trip for the boys to always remember but it will take some time maybe even up to 2 years. We don't mind doing it but we both thought if there were a foundation or organization that granted wishes for children like our nephews they sure would deserve it with what they have been through and it might get them there quicker than we can, but either way we are determined to get them there as we know by years of enjoying Disneyland that it very much is "The Happiest Place On Earth" :cloud9:
