Question about MM and a possible rant about MS

So I had to call MS for another big issue with points not allocating properly >:( I casually asked about MM night and qualifying. I have my reservation for 3 nights and 1 night is MM, I used my resale points to book the stay, these points are in the same membership where I hold direct benefits. MS said my MM night has to be booked with direct points to qualify for preregistration, using resale will only qualify me for general registration.

Am I crazy or have I been told multiple times here on the boards that as long as I use the membership that contains direct points it is fine for all registration types?

My rant is that i feel like 50% of the time I call MS they are not competent in what they are doing and things get messed up.

I think there have been reports of them being much more restrictive recently. But I haven't made it to a MM yet so I cannot personally confirm

I vaguely recall the points can be resale/unqualified points, but need to belong to a membership that has a qualifying contract. So, if you have mulitple UYs and some do not qualify, maybe?

I can't find the details in writing, though.

This one is actually my "simple" membership under my Dec UY. I have 300 direct points across 3 contracts and 100 resale across 1 contract.

If it's not in writing anywhere I probably shouldn't risk it, seeing that I already have flights booked. Ugh.

MS not knowing basic things really had me surprised. I hate when things are "it depends on who you talk to" which has very much been my experience so far

To add the link above shows the terms. Was interested to see that it says "If Members have multiple Resort reservations, made under the same Membership, they must add their combined total party size in a single event registration" Im assuming these means if you have 2 rooms booked for 1 day?

We just attended the EPCOT MM last week staying on our resale points which are on a different membership and use year than our "qualifying" points.
I really feel bad for owners who call MS and don't read boards like this or know that many times what MS tells us is incorrect. How many members have been given the wrong information and just blindly believed it even if it went against the written rules!?!

Nice!! Did you get early registration or general?

It could be something that they are starting to do but that not all the CMs catch when looking. Similar to how they sometimes let resale members get the sorcerer's pass.

I was upset at first that the MMB option to pay for the sorcerer's pass can only use direct/grandfathered points, because nowhere in the rules does it say that each point must be direct or grandfathered but the CMs said they had to be.

Unfortunately I foresee Disney making every little thing that relies on using or spending DVC points in some way as part of a membership extra (Sorcerer's pass, reservations for MM, anything else that comes in the future that is payable with points) to require the points to be eligible points. Their direct contracts look much better that way

Oh nice! They added it. It wasn't there when I bought MMB and renewed my passes. I wish it wasn't required but at least tell us if there are restrictions!

I let the cast member know they needed to add it in the terms or the FAQ because it didn't specify and they said they understood

Maybe they will add it to the MM registration FAQ eventually too if they really do start requiring the points to be eligible

We had bought the Membership Magic, but I didn’t know if my resale HHI points are eligible for Sorcerers pass renewal. We were buying those points around the time they were making the change. So, I just called, and found out they were eligible.

So they were eligible even though the FAQ says not eligible
