Question about MK Barber Shop!

I am trying to find out prices for the MK barber shop. DS (2.5) and DGP need a hair cut, heard good things about the barber shop.

Please Help.

This is a great experience for the little ones to get their hair cut. If you are lucky the barbershop quartet (Dapper Dans) will come in and sing and they will entertain your little one with stickers and toys. I have not been able to get as good a haircut as the one my DS got here anywhere. I am actually looking forward to this as my DS needs to have a good cut after so many bad ones. It is first come first served so you may have to wait a little but it is in a great area where your child can run around a little while one of waits in line. We played with bubbles for a good 45 minutes waiting for our turn - our longest wait the entire vacation but well worth it. There are three chairs. You can get pixie dust and color put into your or your child's hair. It is very fun and they are very experienced barbers.
If you have the time - do it. It does require a little time off from true park things to do it, though.

You'll love the barber shop! I was just debating this morning if we will have enough time to take our 2yo dd when we go. She got her 1st haircut there last year, too! It was great!

Do you know what time the shop opens? I seem to think the last time we were there it opened one hour after park opening...BUT that may have been when we got there for early entry. Does it open at 9:00 every day??? Does anyone know if people start lining up early...say 8:30??? Just curious!

DD5 has never had a haircut, I was thinking I might have her hair cut there. Maybe just a little itty bitty trim. Will they save a piece of hair for her book for me?

Oh wow, my DD is three and has never had a haircut. Every trip I say I'm going to take her to the barber shop at MK to get her first cut and then chicken out. I don't want that hair CUT!!!!! I totally understand the little itty bitty trim you want. When I finally get the nerve up for someone to cut DD's hair it will also be a little itty bitty trim!!!!

Yes they save a piece for you.

My mother and my daughter had a haircut last month. Mom loved her haircut. Still likes it. (She doesn't usually like anything! Disney World crowds, included.)

The Harmony Barber Shop at the Magic Kingdom is even more magical when it's your first haircut. The barbers will carefully wrap up those first locks in small packet for you. Additionally, your child will receive a certificate commemorating his/her first haircut and a pair of special Mickey Mouse Ears with 'first haircut' embroidered on the back.

Here is a link to my photos, some are of the Michael cutting the boys hair. It opens at 9:30am I believe and closes at 6pm. I had the eldest get a haircut and Michael put colour and pixie dust on all 3 of my boys. It made the trip even more magical. We were there the first week in October. I told Michael he was famous on the internet that I had read all about him. I forget the women's name that works there as well, I think it starts with a W.

Does anyone know if the Barber Shop is open during MVMCP? We are going on December 5th. This is our very first visit to WDW (well, not mine - I was there the first year it opened)

Check the time when you get there, because when we were there last June, I think the barber shop closed earlier (4:00??). I remember thinking that I was glad we'd stopped in at the time we did.

There were two people cutting hair (one was the gentleman featured in the Disney Magazine article last year), and about 3-4 people ahead of us.

My daughter (age 7) got her first haircut ever, and it was a lot of fun. They cut off about 12" (there was still plenty left), and we sent it to Locks of Love. Just to be sure I had some, and because I didn't want to keep track of it on vacation, I cut a little lock from underneath before we left for WDW to save.

My 10-year-old also had about 5" cut off. She did a great job with both their haircuts, French-braided their hair, piled on lots of Pixie dust, and gave them each tons of Mickey stickers. The youngest got the "My First Haircut" ears, too, although at age 7 they didn't quite fit! And the barber posed for funny pictures with a huge scissors prop.

The only drawback was it took us almost an hour and a half to finish from the time we walked in the door. I guess we had a lot of hair to cut.

She's going back in January for another cut, but I hope she doesn't start to think that we'll go everytime she needs one!

Thanks for the info. DD will be 10 months when we go so Im thinking of getting her first haircut there. I didnt even know this place existed. Is it hard to find?

No, it isn't hard to find at all. It is on the left side of Main St., right beside the Fire Dept.

I can't wait. This is on our list of things to do. Both my boys 3 & 5 are desperatly in need of a haircut and we have been waiting for this trip. It is the 3 yr olds first time having it cut at a place, we usually do it at home.

Does anyone know what colors you can get your hair made? My 3yr old is counting on yellow but I am hoping that he will be happy with whatever he gets!
