Question about military rate park hoppers...

My dad is retired military, and he said he would be able to buy our park hoppers from a nearby military base. While our annual trip to DL always includes my parents, I don't know that we will be entering the park with them each morning. Is this a problem? Does dad need to be with us while we go in the gates? (Maybe just on the first day?) Not sure of the ticket rules, and I don't want to break any...
Thanks!

I have previously read here on the boards that it will not be a problem to enter the parks without your dad.

(I'm not speaking from experience. I'm just repeating what I've heard here.)

Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the matter will comment about it soon. :thumbsup2

He just has to activate them for you. After that you can go in on your own. We used ours in May at DW.

Thanks so much guys. We go with my parents every year, and never looked into getting these tickets before. Every bit of savings is so helpful!

I have used a military rate hopper before no problem; we did not have the military member with us, but was not asked to show anything.

I think you are referring to the "Salute" promotion, which has ended at Disneyland.
A military member can buy tickets at their local MWR office, and you do not need the military member with you to use them, they are like a regular ticket. They do not need to be activated. The savings Disneyland offers is not much, usually only a few dollars, when compared with Legoland or Six Flags, which MWR sells for almost half off the gate price.
The main benifits of buying tickets at MWR are 1. skip the ticket booths at the Park, and 2. Tax free.

My dad got tickets somewhere on base, but only received a voucher that needs to be redeemed for tickets at the park. I just called the DL hotel and was told we need to take that voucher to Will Call, just past security. They cannot make this exchange at the hotel Guest Services desk. So, we can't exactly skip the ticket booths.

I was not with him, so I don't know why he got a voucher -vs- tickets.
