We are planning to take the Mears bus to Universal one day and Busch Gardens a different day, during our stay. How do we coordinate it? Do we need to set it up at the Mears station when we arrive at the airport? Or do we need to call the day before? Or can we do it either way? Or something totally different?

thanks!

we went to the bellhop station at SSR and told them we wanted to get to Seaworld and they called mears van for us it was reasonable, on the way there the driver gave us his business card and told us to call him for pick and he would cut us a deal and he did. My DS and DDL did the same thing then next couple days after and it worked well for them too.

I'm curious to to "the deal" that halld6479 got.

Normally, you call Mears Customer Service, the night before you wish to go.

Disney to Universal or Sea World is $16 RT per person. 3 and younger are free.

Disney to Busch Gardens is $10 per person. You pay when you arrive at BUSCH to recieve your return trip ticket. But you must obtain transportation to the closest bus pickup point. From most Resorts in Disney, Premium Outlet Mall would be your best bet. From AS resorts, AKL or CS. There are a couple of points on 192 that might be closer. CS should be able to advise which is close.

MEARS CS is 407-423-5566. It is best to call yourself. That way, you KNOW who your're calling.

well I thought it was a deal there was 4 of us and he charged us 30 over and 20 back, he also ask if we had everything we needed, he would be glad to make a groc stop for us so we said sure, kids bought a case of pepsi and we got some snacks, then he drove us to our building instead of leaving us off at main building.

Sounds like you made out ok IF all your family was over 3 yrs old. But that was not MEARS SHUTTLE.

It's fine if folks wish to use transportation other than MEARS. Make your arrangements yourself in advance. It just takes alittle planning. Just know who you are dealing with. BEWARE when the BELL staff call for you. Some MEARS imposters are around that take the RT fare in advance BUT fail to show for the return trip. These folks, lure bell staff to help them with cash for there assistance.

JUST be careful!!

It could have been a Mears Checker cab which are on all the resort stands daily.

That is possible and likely. My statement still stands, Be sure who you are riding with BEFORE you fork over your MONEY.

JUST be careful!! (I hear an echo)......LOL

Just curious, why is it more expensive to go from Disney to Sea World (a relatively short trip) than to Busch Gardens, which by shuttle "bus" has to take close to 1.5 hours, especially with traffic. I'm local, so I don't need the shuttle, but that makes no sense to me.

The Disney to Busch Gardens price ($10.00 per person) is probably wrong.

It is correct, but it is not like the Disney to Universal where they pick you up at your resort.

It is ORLANDO/KISSIMMEE to Busch Gardens at very specific pickup points and times. YOU have to get yourself to the pickup point. None of these pickup points are on Disney Property.

As a previous poster stated

As far as getting Mears to Universal or Sea World. If you want to pay for the transportation with a credit card, then you need to stop by the Mears desk at the airport and purchase the RT tickets. (If you have cash, then no need to stop by the airport desk.)

The night before you wish to go to Universal/IOA/Sea World, dial "0" from any Disney phone (your room phone), then ask the Disney operator to transfer you to Mears.

Once Mears comes on the line tell them where you want to go, approximately what time, and what resort you are staying at. They will give you a pickup time and location.

Be at that location about 10 minutes before your pickup time and the bus/van will arrive and transport you to your destination. Either hand the driver your prepaid voucher, OR pay them cash.

This is a shared ride and you will probably stop at other hotels on the way.

Once you arrive at your destination you will be given your return ticket. You can tell the driver what time you want to be picked up at that time OR call the number on your return ticket two hours before you wish to return to receive a pickup time.

Then proceed back to where you were dropped off and board your van/bus at the designated time.

You will then be returned to your resort. You will probably stop at other hotels on the way back as this is a shared ride.

We've had no luck with Mears, especially when it came to car seats for the kids. Since, we have used MH Transportation, which I've mentioned in this forum before.....They are fantastic, put Mears to shame.

It has to do with MEARS contract with BUSCH. They most likely pay MEARS a contract price, and recoup some on the return vouchers.
