I was just wanting someone' s expertise on the subject. Why do they ask you what resort you are staying at when you make ADR's? Do they pull up your reservation? If so why? What if you are staying off site? Also, they asked if we were on the dining plan? Why? Do they note that in the computer for some reason? Thanks. :)

Hi Amanda,

Two words: marketing research!

No, they don't pull up your reservation. I've made ADRs without being booked or knowing where I was staying.

If you've already made your resort plans/AP/Dining plan purchases, they will have that on your screen when you are making your APRs, so they are either just confirming the data or doing data collection.
You will not be asked where you're staying; resort residence is not required; only park admissions are required for dining within the parks. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

The CM's making your ADR's are reading questions off their monitor. In order to get to the next screen they must complete the question...as previous poster put probably for marketing research. As far as the dining questions of are you on any plan it is #1 a marketing question and #2 depending on where you make your reservations some of the restaurants require a deposit. If you are making a ADR for CRT breakfast and are not on the dining plan then your CC is charged the deposit. If you are on a dining plan then the funds are held in reserve until you arrive at the reservation. If a no show then your CC is charged the deposit or if you do show then the hold is removed from your CC.

Yesterday I called Disney Dining to ask some questions about how they release tables. I had her check LTT for Thanksgiving Day (nothing there as I expected). When she asked if I was on the Dining Plan I said "no, does it matter?" She said no... so that makes me think it is just info gathering.

Just marketing probably. The dining people have no control over what they have to ask, it's just in their computer and they have to do it to get to the next screen.

I'm asked every time where I'm staying. Probably just for data gathering, I'm sure.

As to the Dining Plan question, I asked if it mattered, and the CM told me that since some restaurants are NOT on the Dining Plan, and some require 2 credits, they can inform you of those facts at the time of reservation, eliminating any potentially disappointing surprises when you arrive.
