Question about mailing postcards from Disneyland?

Is there a place in the parks to mail postcards from?

Yes, there are mailboxes around Main St.

Is there any special Disneyland stamps that show you mailed it from Disneyland?

While there used to be a special postmark to show you mailed from Disneyland, now any mail dropped in the mailboxes is just taken to a local post office and mailed from Anaheim, so there's not really any special reason to putting it in the DL mailbox.

:)

Thanks for your responses!!

Do they sell individual stamps anywhere or do I need to bring my own?

That I don't know. I don't know of anywhere inside the parks that sells them but I wonder if the hotels do? Not sure, maybe someone else reading this knows! :)

There are a few places to mail them from Disneyland. I used to mail postcards from my trips from Disneyland, but I got frustrated by them not even ending up with Anaheim postmarks. They always ended up postmarked as mailed from Santa Ana or some other nearby city.

Edit to add: I once bought stamps near entrance to Greetings from California shop, but not sure if that machine is still there or not.

Ok thanks! I will plan on taking stamps unless someone else replies on if you can still buy them.

Hmm, I wonder if they'd end up with Anaheim postmarks if they were mailed from the hotel instead (assuming it was a non-Disney hotel)? :confused3

In WDW, you can go to customer relations and they put a "stamp" (not a postage stamp, but a stamp with Mickey's face I think) on it to let people know it was mailed from WDW. You might want to check at DL. Not sure if they do it or not, but it would be worth asking. We just happened to find out by accident. It is not "advertised" at all. Hope this helps!

In June 2010 I asked a CM at the Emporium (where I bought a couple postcards) and they said they did NOT sell stamps anywhere in the parks.

We bought some at the Hojo's gift shop. They were regular stamps, not postcard stamps, though.

In November 2009 they had a machine selling stamps near the Greetings shop as it has been mentioned. We didn't send postcards last year, so no idea if it is still there or not.

All "postboxes" however do have a small note saying the mail will be brought to the Anaheim Post Office, so I highly doubt you will receive a special stamp.

I seem to recall buying stamps near the top of Main Street. I think it was the photography store... not sure. I distinctly remember, though, being told by a CM that there is no Disneyland postmark on any outgoing mail. Too bad. I think that would be such a fun may to highlight a card to a child.

I covered this in a blog posting last year when I did my trip. They no longer sell stamps within the Disneyland resort. I went to California Greetings and found the machine had been removed. I tried all over the place and couldn't find within the resort. I was told that the postal service wouldn't allow them to sell. I find that a little weird. Anyway, I asked about special stamps to put on the cards and was also told no at Guest Relations. (Over in Hong Kong when I went to drop off cards there they couldn't move fast enough to get the special rubber stamps and ink pads for me!). Also the card stock was very limited at DCA. I could only find 4 different types. Was told it was due to the reconstruction going on.

For the stamps, I eventually ended up at the Buena Park post office. Maybe the 7/11 at Harbor and Katella would sell them?

I wouldn't recommend using the mailboxes within the park, I tried that once and it took almost two weeks longer than if I had used a regular mailbox. I doubt the hotels would have this problem though...

Go to your local PO and ask for Disney Stamps and buy them, if they don'thave any, go to your local hobby store, and look for a craft stamper that says Disneyland. If this fails, go to the local office supply store and have a stamper made that stamps Disneyland in a great script and use a rainbow ink pad. DO NOT stamp ON the stamp stamp below it!!! Then if you want you can send them from home before or after your trip!!

I was there in December and several CMs told me that City Hall had stamps, but when I got there City Hall said they didn't have any. I was staying at PPH and the front desk was out of stamps. They sent me to GCH Business Center where I was finally able to buy a stamp and she even offered to mail it out for me.

It was pretty frustrating at the time since everyone was giving me different information.

Disney is really missing out on this. They should have prepaid postcards. You buy them (added cost) write on it and post them. Both national and international.
