Question about Magical Express

Hi - I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not. I rented points for the first time from someone back in May (and the reservation is showing in my Disney experience account), however, we have our flights now and I'd like to add Magical Express. I can't get in touch with this person - I've tried both email and a PM here with no luck. Am I able to add this myself somehow? If so, how do I do it? We were hoping at add the dining plan too, but I'm pretty sure I can't do that without him :(

TIA!

For sure you need to add the dining plan through the owner. As for ME, when we rented out our points I had to be the one to add ME. However, I have read on here that you can add ME through your MDE account. I don't have experience with that because that wasn't the case for my rental.

How long have you been trying to contact the owner? Do you have a phone number? Maybe they are on vacation. How soon do you need to add these things?

Thanks for the reply. I've been trying to contact him for 2 weeks. I have an address, but no phone number. I may call DME to see if they can add us. That's my biggest concern - we can easily live without the dining plan. We don't need it til mid-January, so I still have time. He was super responsive and helpful when we were planning the trip, so I'm hopeful he's just out of the country or something and I'll catch him soon.

I couldn't figure out any way to add Magical Express to our reservation online. If you figure it out let us know how to do it. I am a member so I called DVC and they booked it.

I can't figure out where to do it on line either. I, the same as Sammie, just call DVC to add ours each trip. I'm not sure why members have/had to call for the renters because you have a reservation number, but that's what we have always been told.

The dining plan with a DVC reservation HAS to be added before 48 hours before your trip.

According to Disney policy DDP and DME must be added buy the DVC member through DVC member services. That' s not saying that sometimes the policy isn't adhered to.

I guess on a DVC booking Member Services has to do it because they get billed for it, possibly?

I used this link to make my DME reservations for the points I rented for my stay in two weeks. I did receive DME mail and luggage tags like normal. At the time, I was unaware the owner is supposed to do it so I did advise the owner of this, and she made it seem like it was no problem. When you enter your reservation number on the site, it does recognize it's a DVC reservation so perhaps the billing routing is still done properly.

Anything's possible, I do know that I have been told by MS several times that DVC DME reservations must go through them and the recording that is played when we call DME states that DVC DME reservations must be made through DVC.

I don't think that you will have an issue.

Since I've never spoken to MS about DME, and I've never called DME, I wouldn't know.

I've only ever used that link, and it has always worked out just fine.

It showed (Dining Plan that it) on my May reservation today and could be added

The link given above is exactly the same link you are sent to if you go online as a DVC member and and try to add DME from the DVC site. It is just Disney's general page for adding DME usable by anyone staying at WDW. I have used it before without going first to DVC site and it has worked. I believe the supposed requirement that you go through DVC is no longer a requirement at all since the time they added MDE where your DVC resrvation is now recognized and the ability to order DME online. They certainly do not need to have us go through DVC to assure proper charges are made, including because the DVC room reservation number itself, which you put into the DME form, identifies the reservation as a DVC reservation.

Well the DME web page that I get sent to from the member website isn't the link above, it's a DVC member DME page. Calling DME directly as of today, the recording still instructs DVC members to book through MS and they give you the phone number.

The general public DME reservation website my work for DVC members but I don't think that Disney intends for DVC members to use it for booking.
