We have used this many times but always flew non stop. Our flight home has a layover and the woman I spoke with at Disney said that we have to take our bags ourselves on the ME bus and check in at the airport and tell them to have our bags go direct to our final destination. Is this true? I thought ME would take our bags like they do on a direct flight????

Assuming there's nothing funky like having to take the bags through customs or anything, the DME person is being silly.

Customs wouldn't come into play when leaving Orlando, FL. As long as it's a standard layover/connecting flight and not booked as two separate legs, your luggage is checked through to your home airport.

Totally read that wrong and thought she meant coming into mco. :)

But now my recent experience works as an example. We had a flight from mco to Houston, layover, then on to Seattle. RAC took our bags just fine. Saw them again in Seattle.

Thank you for your responses. There is nothing funky about our flights they are domestic mco to Chicago, then Chicago to Boston.

I am relieved to know the info might have been erroneous. the flight is first thing in the morning, and if we can leave the room w/ our carry ons, that would be great!

Thanks again.

:rotfl: Unless your layover is 48 hours, that's one of the silliest things I've heard.

"The flight is first thing in the morning."

If the airline baggage check stand at your resort is not open, you will have to take your bags with you to the Magical Express bus platform. Waiting in the baggage check line does not count as punctual for your DME bus.

The check stand (RAC) opens at about 5 AM. Also it does not serve all airlines.

When you use the check stand, you tell the agent your next destination (final or stopover, not connection, not layover) just as you would at an airport skycap curbside stand or even at an airport ticketing/check in counter.

(Going home, taking your bags on the DME bus works for all airlines, all guests, all hours, and all destinations.)

(Going to Disney, baggage delivery to Disney's resort rooms works for all airlines, except, when arriving after 10 PM it works for no airlines. International guests must clear customs somewhere. If in Orlando, bags may be re-introduced into the system if it is still before 10 PM for room delivery.)
