We want to eat at LTT but because of a digestive condition I have been dealing with all summer my gastro doc told me no dairy, no caffeine, no roughage, and very little beef. We would like to order off the menu with my DH ordering the pot roast meal and I would order mashed potatoes (I can eat them even though they may have butter and milk) and veggies. I could eat a few bites of his pot roast. Could we do that or is it a no-no? Thanks.

Your husband will have to order the "Patriots Platter" in order to get pot roast. He will also get mashed potatoes, corn, salad, turkey, mac& cheese, stuffing, and gravy. You could both eat from the patriots platter. You can pick and choose what you want to eat from the platter and leave him the rest. There is no longer a "pot roast meal" or a "Turkey meal". They are both available in the Patriots Platter, which is an "all you care to eat" meal. You can both eat from it, or he can eat from it and you can order from the al la carte menu. I think they are pretty good about meeting dietary needs, so you could ask about getting an order of potatoes and some veggies. If you both eat from the Patriots Platter you will both be charged for the meal.

Sharing is not allowed with any AYCTE meals so sharing of the Patriots Platter would not be possible. Looks like Pot Roast is available in the a la carte lunch menu so yes - OP your husband can order the pot roast and you can just order a side - and sharing would then be just fine.

Please rest assured that if your husband gets the AYCTE platter & you order yourself some potatoes, the food police will not come by to charge you for the meal if you eat a few bites of your his pot roast.

Of course not but OP was asking about sharing the pot roast entree not the Patriot's Platter. The previous poster's reply was advising that sharing of that AYCTE meal was an option as an alternative to the pot roast entree - which is currently on the menu. We should be sharing the most accurate information when answering a poster's question, not encouraging something that goes against Disney's practices.

If you read the last sentence of my statement I said they could both eat from the Patriots Platter but that they would both be charged. My spouse and I shared a Patriots Platter last month.

My apologies about missing your final statement. Now seeing that I still stand by the point in my post that states sharing that meal is not allowed. You're not really sharing a meal if you are charged by each person getting that meal. That is just like ordering two of those meals - and if you truly shared one portion and were not served enough for two portions then you paid for more food than would have actually been served for two people ordering that meal - which may be fine for some guests but doesn't seem right price wise. Bottom line is that you may share many entrees at Disney restaurants but AYCTE options are not included - That is of course sharing in the traditional sense of paying the regular price of the entree with more than one person eating it without being charged additionally for each person sharing the meal. The OP was really asking about sharing the pot roast entree - which is currently on the LTT lunch menu - so there wouldn't be a need to order the Patriot's Platter as you advised just to get the pot roast. So the discussion about sharing the platter doesn't really apply here.

Sorry I was not technical enough in my wording. We both ate from the Patriots Platter for two, or shared the meal, however one may want to word it. We were charged for two people as previously stated. I was just trying to throw out some options to someone who asked. I also threw out other options aside from sharing a Patriots Platter for two. I also knew that others would have suggestions and alternative information to pass along as well for the "asker" to choose from. Between all of the collective input, I am sure they will gather the information that works best for them. They can decide what they want and what applies to their wants and needs based on my information, your information, and the information of others. We all share information here in efforts to help. I always appreciate any and all input and information from others when I have questions. I have been able to sort it out and get the answers I need. I will try to be more clear in my wording so there is no misunderstandings. I see no need in being confrontational and trying to be "right" and making someone else "wrong". They have choices & options based on collective input. Best wishes to them and their upcoming visit to Disney.

Do you plan on eating lunch or dinner there? If you get lunch, you should be able to share some of your husband's meal unless you gets the all you care to eat platter. If you are there for dinner, you both get the aycte meal and are charged accordingly.

We had lunch there in August and the there is an a la carte option at lunch. If you have dietary restrictions, let the wait staff know and they will guide you to order something that might fit your restrictions. If you prefer a light meal and just want some of his food, there is no problem with that but they may charge you for the patriots platter since they cannot monitor what you eat. I think it's $37 pp. If you want a meal and don't want to pay a great deal, order the kids turkey meal, comes with mashed potato, veggies, and a roll. We had salads and soup too that were all very good. Not sure if you can have any of that but just suggestions.

I was going to suggest going at lunch. If you can't have beef and dairy... it sounds like a bad idea to plan to have both beef and dairy. There are other options like salad that have either chicken or salmon and no dairy if you hold the cheese and kids meals if you are a light eater... including Turkey (not beef)... and you can sub fries for the mashed potatoes. Disney is very very accommodating with substitutions.

There is a lot of confusing info here...

If you go at dinner the ONLY option is AYCTE and you'll be charged for it. Doesn't sound like a good option if you can't eat much.

You will have many more options at lunch. there is also an a la carte pot roast for your husband. You are always permitted to share a la carte options but no matter what you can eat, if you go to a meal that only has an AYCTE option, you will be charged just for being there.

The problem is the verbiage. What happens is that unless someone clarifies the policy there will be folks who see "sharing" and figure that is allowed if it is only a few bites. There are some of us who generally are specific just to avoid issues if someone misunderstood the post.

Thank you, I understand. In my first statement I did go on to say that they would both be charged if they ate from the same platter.

I saw that. Unfortunately, there are folks who do not read the entire post and so we try to make sure that there is no misunderstanding.

If they don't read the entire post, that's no fault of mine. I said they would both be charged. It's in the post. The information was there to read. It's like people are just trying to find something to argue about. I put the information in the post.

No one was trying to argue with you or to dispute your post, or to blame you if there was the potential for a misunderstanding. All that was happening was that there was a little clarification to be sure that anyone reading would understand Disney policy. Many of us do this routinely for those who are either new to the forum, or for those who do not post but read along. There really is no need to be defensive or to take the clarification that was posted personally, it was not.

In the beginning, I had posted a response to someone who asked about LTT. In that post I mentioned that they would both be charged for the meal if they both ate from it. Then someone else made a comment assuming that I had left out the information about both parties being charged. Which is fine, they made a mistake and didn't read my entire post. I replied to let them know that I had included that in my information. So that person replied again and apologized for missing my comment about both parties being charged, which I thought was nice BUT then for some reason they decided to lecture me about "sharing" and it was all a bit sarcastic for some reason. If you will go back and read their post. They couldn't just let it go with an apology . So yes, sure I got a bit defensive. There was no need for all that. So when you come in on it as well, it does feel like an attack. People are different all over. We don't all speak the same depending on where one is from. It's like in New York, If you stand in line for a movie or something there, a lot of them say "standing on line" instead of "in line". That would confuse most people where I'm from. When I here "on line", I think of the internet. Anyway, bottom line, I had included the info about being charged. I got a bit of a sarcastic response from the previous person and my defenses went up. If they want to say they were just explaining policy for those who may want to know, I really don't think so. No one had asked about the policy and it has a few sarcastic jabs thrown in with it. I hope this puts this topic to bed once and for all. I take you at your word that it was not your intention to make it feel like an attack. I appreciate you reaching out to try to clear the air. I don't know how often you make it to Disney, but I hope your next visit is a good one. We were last there during Irma, but it really turned out to be a good week. Thank you.

OP here. We have reservations for lunch (thanks Touring Plans!). Lunch will be just fine for us. I understood that if we had the AYCTE we would have both been charged. Thanks so much for the information.

If you took my responses as an attack I sincerely apologize. I am not known for behaving in a rude or sarcastic manner and certainly had no intention of hurting you. I honesty was only trying to help.

I followed the Irma stories but did not realize you were there during that time. I do travel to Disney at least once a year and I have been "treated" to guest displays when they have either chosen to ignore policy or have misunderstood it. It is unpleasantness that I truly wish to help others avoid.

I am the poster who replied to you. I wasn't trying to not let it go as you say - just trying to be very clear about how sharing is viewed and practiced at Disney, which is a topic much discussed - and often misunderstood. You can think what you like about my intention. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My only purpose here on the DIS is to give and receive information, not to stir up trouble.
