We plan on booking lightening lanes for Slinky Dog, if we can get one. We have 6 adults and a 5 year old. What do we do if we get to Slinky Dog at our arrival time and the 5 year old does not want to ride? I have shown her the ride on YouTube and she said yes she will ride. Things in person look a lot different than on TV. She’s a little afraid of roller coasters. Do we cancel her lightening lane along with an adults to stay with her? Or have someone take the 5 year olds and adults magicband with us as they wait and scan them on our way on the ride?

With the LLs it is easy to cancel. With FP there used to be some potential issues with that kind of scenario but no longer the case.

Could you do rider swap? And then have the cm clear her LL? It's been so long since we did rider swap that il not sure what they do now in that instant. You could always do what we did with our ride-anxious DS back.in the day--for every new ride he rode, he got a pin of that ride.to put in his lanyard.

Yes I’m not sure how rider swap works.

Be aware that sometimes a rider swap isn’t granted when a child is tall enough for a ride but simply doesn’t want to ride. That’s sometimes, not always.

Another option would be for the child to go through the line with everyone, then the child and one adult can tell the CM at the loading dock that she won’t be riding, and they’ll direct them to the “chicken exit.” Maybe seeing all the other kids in line excited to ride would help reduce fears.

Or watch people exiting for a bit - especially other kids about the 5 year old’s age, to see how happy they are after riding.

I’ve got a feeling that the 5 year old is going to love Slinky.

My fondest Disney memory is chasing my then 3 year old daughter back to the entrance of Space Mountain moments before midnight with her screaming ‘One More Time Daddy’ all the way.
