Question about linking/using Convention tickets

I looked on the ticket sticky but didn't see any information about this.

Heading to WDW for a Convention in June. I am surprising my Mom and having her fly down to join me on the last day of the Convention at Coronado Springs, and we will be checking in to the Beach Club.

I see on our Convention website that I can buy the specially priced Convention tickets for my guests. I have an AP, but want to purchase a 3 day base ticket for my Mom, it's about a $40 savings. My questions are:

Has anyone had any experience linking the Convention ticket to their MDE? Is that possible? (I hope so for FP+)

Does anyone see any issues with me purchasing this type of ticket for a Convention guest?

I've been to WDW a ton but never for a convention so I'm a bit nervous about doing things this way! Thanks

I purchased convention tickets in December for my DH, DD, and DS and had no trouble linking them at all. For DH, I bought his earlier and they came in the mail and were easy to link on the website. For the kids, I purchased them closer to the trip and the CM linked them on the phone, we never had physical tickets.

Thanks for your response! I'm just trying to weed out the negatives before purchasing it.
