Question about Le Cellier

We will be on the Dining plan. Can I order the filet w/o mushrooms or do you have to order it just the way it is because of the dining plan?

You may get your steak without mushrooms if that is your desire.

I would not be concerned as to whether or not you can get a meal prepared a certain because of the dining plan. Just let your server know that you cannot have mushrooms and you'll be fine.

I'm not a big shroom fan either, but I do like 'em on the filet at Le Cellier. So I would suggest you ask for it to be on the side, and try it with the steak. It was really good! But of course if there's a food allergy that is being the reason for removing them, then yeah, I wouldn't eat them either.

Being on the dining plan doesn't mean you can not make alterations to a menu item. If you want the filet without mushrooms, order it that way, just as if you were paying OOP.

I think the OP might be thinking of the restrictions if you order Chef's Choice while on the dining plan--that's where you have to choose off the short list in order to get an appetizer,entree & dessert on the regular dining plan...that way of ordering is "no substitutions" and you have to order the choices on that list. But those rules are ONLY when you want to get the three-course option. And not sure taking away a sauce would be considered a substitution, anyway.

But you're talking about the filet, which is not on the Chef's Choice list anyway, so ask for it any way you'd like.

I have never heard of a special request involving changes to a menu item (like omitting a sauce) being denied for the sole reason that the requester is on the dining plan.

As for the Chef's Choice menu at Le Cellier, they don't permit substitutions. This means you can't substitute the filet for one of the chef's choice options - the filet isn't on the fixed price menu. You may not be able to substitute side dishes if your entree comes with any - IF you have ordered from the fixed price menu. But that isn't like asking to have the mushrooms left off your filet - that is not a substitution.

Well my experience at LeCellier is to always order the filet sans mushrooms! (blech mushrooms)

and I do swap out the side starch as well - I read what comes with other meals, for instance I hate the mushroom risotto and swap it with a potato choice - I've done this at LeCellier...

- now I have no memory if it was on the chef choice option - I do know we did order that on Free Dining - I just dont remember what I ordered!!

The only beef on the Chef's Choice menu is prime rib - no filet.
