We are planning on going 9/27 - 10/5 to take advantage of end of value season, beginning of F&W and hopefully an early MNSSHP. Does anyone who has been there at this time in the past foresee any problems we may encounter? According to Touring Plans, crowds should be pretty sparse at this time, but you never know!! Thanks for the advice fellow DISers and a Happy New Year to all!

We went in early September last year and it was really quiet. Our longest queue was 30 minutes!

We had a fantastic time, even the weather was perfect!

Hope that helps a little.

We were there last year for almost the exact same days. It was a great time of year to be there, but I was very nervous about hurricanes. We were very lucky and had great weather the entire time we were there. However, the weather took a turn on the day that we left.

Temperatures were in the high 80's to about 90. Crowds were very light at the beginning of our trip, but noticably picked up the last couple of days after Food & Wine Festival started.

I would definitely return during this time of year, but I will always invest in trip insurance as a precaution!

We went to September in 2005.It was great! Many fast pass stands had closed as just not necessary---we were able to walk on so many of the rides anyway!!!
I would thoroughly recoomend this time of year.It was lovely during day and maybe a light cardigan in the evening.
It was nice to have the pool at our villa heated for this time of year - especially for the spa.

A great time ,

Lynn

We've visited in September and October. I prefer October; less crowded, less rain.

I seem to be in the minority here, but I found the humidity unbearable, and the parks quite crowded when we went Sept 30-Oct 7 2005. We are going in early December this year.

Weve been there four times in Sept-Oct and LOVE it. Its our favorite time to go...light crowds, great weather. Our last two trips have been in December, and we sure missed swimming! Never need a coat in Sept-Oct either...Hurricanes are hit or miss but in the four times weve gone during this time, weve gotten lucky every time. I would definitely recommend this time of year for a trip!!

Never again will I go in Oct, we were there from Oct 4- Oct 10 and found it crowded! We waited 2 hours from Soarin and there fast pass return was 7:30pm and this was at 1:00pm.. Now,,, we were there in May and literally walked on soarin.. I will definately never go back in Oct,, I heard also heard that Southern schools were on fall break also, food and wine and MNSSHP and not to mention free dinning... SO , that is probably why it was so crowded. I will always go back in May..

We were there last year (2005, Happy New Year!!) and found it to be very crowded, considering what we were expecting. I think the free dining and the general up-tick in travel lead to a busy first week in October of 2005. We were there in late October, 2004 it seemed less busy to me.

We've gone many different times in September and we love it. In fact....we just booked next years vacation today for Sept 2006.

My only worries every year about Sept. is the hurricanes. In the last 5 trips we have been chased away twice due to hurricanes. Obviously this doesn't stop us from going back though

we've gone to WDW in late september twice and had great times. the lines are short, the weather is comfortable. you can still wear shorts. don't forget the sunblock. MNSSHP is a blast. you'll have lots of fun. we went on the first night and had lots of fun. the lines were practically non-existent. it was great. i highly recommend going in late september.

YIkes - I forgot about the hurricanes (and, really how can you do that after the year we've had!) Thanks all for the advice - I think we will go for it!

Tinkerbela - yes we hope to be at the first MNSSHP! I just have to say - I love your pictures! Look how cute you all are!!!! So sweet.

We went those exact dates last year but a bit longer and LOVED it, had free dining and I didn't notice the crowds being unbearable like others. I do think it was a bit more crowded but nothing bad. October is near the end of hurricane season, it is hit or miss of course, seems to always be a big one after the first of October but if you don't take a chance you won't ever be going 5 months out of the year!

We usually go several times a year, skipping always March, April, June, July and August. I have enjoyed all the times we have been there.

My parents were just there the last week in September of 2005. They said the crowds weren't too bad, but it was still humid as August and it rained a lot. But of course, no matter what the weather is I can't see not having an awesome time!

We were there Oct. 1-8 and was very surprised at how crowded it actually was. On the weekend it was downright packed! That might have been Columbus weekend though. It was mostly manageable, but I'd hate to see it in mid July if that was supposed to be a down time!
