Question about Kohl's Cash

I just got $10 in Kohl's cash with a coupon that is $10 off $30. The Kohl's cash says it will be applied prior to percent-off total purchase discounts/coupons. So will I need to spend at least $40 to use the coupon with my Kohl's cash?

Example:

$40 pretax
- $10 kohls cash
= $30
- $10 off $30 coupon
=$20 total before tax

I know it would come out the same amount if they applied the coupon first in this scenario, but if they apply the Kohl's cash first, then I wouldn't be allowed to do this:

$30 - 10 coupon = 20 - 10 kohls cash = 10 bc they would do this $30-10 kohls cash = 20 (coupon no longer meets $30 requirement)

I have been in that situation and been able to use both with just a $30 purchase.

I believe it goes dollar off, percent off, kohls cash.

Kohls cash comes off before percent off.

I have the same coupon and $10 Kohls cash. The employee said yesterday that I needed to spend $40 to use both.
