Their are three cameras that I am debating between:

  • Kodak EasyShare CS4230
  • Kodak EasyShare DX4900
  • Kodak EasyShare DX3900

The CS4230 didnt show up on CNET, but the other two both got favorable ratings. Has anyone used these cameras? What were your experences?

Brad

I have the Kodak DX 3900 and love it. I know that a couple other people on the boards have that one as well (*********** and PandyPaws come to mind I believe... so if you have seen any of their picture posts you can get a feel for the great quality of the pictures from this camera :) ).

Any questions in particular that you have?

Yes:

  • Is they Docking Station worth getting?
  • What size card do you use?
  • How many cards does it take?

I have the Kodak 3500, I love it.

IMO, the docking station is not worth the $$. I have ISB ports on the front of my computer so it is no trouble to plug it in when needed.

I have never understood the concept of those Kodak docking stations. Why not just use a normal $20 card readers? Am I missing something on those?

I love my DX3900! Don't waste your money with the docking station. Actually, you don't have to waste your money with the card reader, either. The pictures download to your computer quickly with the USB cable that comes with the camera.

The camera uses a compact flash card. I take pictures on the highest resolution so I get approximately one picture/MB.

I have the 4900 and love it. Excellent pictures.

Last summer we went to Ak and rode the safari. It was extremely bumpy. Extremely difficult to take pictures. DD took about 20 pictures and then gave up because she couldn't hold the camera still. I took it and took another 10 when I figured I might as well stop because there is no way they would come out. Out of 30 pictures all but two came out perfectly clear.

Pictures of fireworks were incredible. I have never been able to get these to come out even with high speed file.

Can't say enough. For the money ($399) I think it is a wonderful camera.

Yes, I have the 3900 also , I love it! As the others have said, the docking station is a waste of money...a film reader is all I use.

No interest in the 4330???
That's what I have...Love it..
Of course I have the docking station..it isn't THAT bad..;)

I don't have the docking station either... wasn't worth the money to me. I don't see the value that it adds for the price.

I have an 8 MB Compact Flash card, a 64 MB and a 128 MB.

I just got DH the 4330 for his birthday, with the docking station. I liked that it recharges the batteries.

He hasn't used it yet. It's reassuring that you like it Shep. I went into Best Buy and immediately was ovewhelmed.

I haven't used the share feature yet on the docking station(where you can send pics to your friends at the push of a button), DW really likes the camera/docking station too..:)
