Question about kids on DDP

My daughter is 10 and my son is 9. We are using the DDP for our next trip. My question is, can we use my daughter's and son's TS credits for either child. For example: If we go to a restaurant where they both love food on the adult TS menu (Tokyo Dining) can we use 2 adult TS credits for them from my daughter's credit 'bank'? Then when we go to Kona (neither child likes anything on the adult menu) could we use 2 child TS credits from my son's credit 'bank' for both of them?

We're not trying to get anything extra, we just want to use the credits as per our discretion and for what our kids will eat/not eat at different restaurants. Is this permissable?

TIA for your help!!:worship:

My understanding is no. You cannot order more adult meals than their are adults on your plan. Also, children on the plan must order from the children's menu.

If you have 3 adult credits per meal, you can only order 3 adult meals. However, we found that our kids could easily split one adult meal and that was never an issue at any restaurant we went to. Because our dd is very picky and she was considered the adult, we did give her ds's kids meal at a couple of places and let him use her adult meal credit and we had no trouble. The only issue we had was at Coral reef and the waiter did nothing to stop us from doing this but made a comment to dd that she really should act her age and eat off the adult menu.

On your card it will say 3 adults and 1 child. This is all you can redeem at any single meal. So you will not be able to use 4 adult credits or 2 child credits, for example.

While your card will indicate that your room purchased three adult and one child meal plan, you do NOT have to get all of you a meal on the plan. While you cannot have More than the listed amount, you can have less. So, if you just want to get three adult meals and then buy an appatizer for your child, that is fine.

At the non-buffet meals, we have often ordered "less" than was on our card, and the number of people at the table, and we pay OOP for a soup, salad, or appatizer. When the food gets there we regularly pass stuff around and everybody gets a little of everything.

If I were in your shoes, I would probably get one adult meal and one child meal and then just share around the table, or plan eating at the buffets, where they can eat whatever their heart desires. There is usually a "kid station" with nuggets, mac and cheese, and such, but the kids are free to eat anything they want.

At the buffets you can still have a salad and or soup before your entree and you do not feel as compelled to have dessert, or they have those great little items. I love the little desserts at Cape May Buffet and Boma.

I guess what we'll do is pay cash for my daughter to have a kids meal at Kona and have the kids split a kids meal and an adult meal at Tokyo Dining. We'll have an extra TS to figure out. Maybe I can add a TS breakfast somewhere.

ETA: This is the first time we've done one of the kids being regarded as an adult on the DP, just wasn't sure about the rules.

Thanks DISers!! I knew you'd know the answers!:thumbsup2
