On our next trip, were bringing along one my friends who is a bit of a fussy eater, and doesn't eat a whole lot anyway. Now and then, when we eat out, she'll order from the kids menu; smaller portions, and it's all the basic stuff that she likes anyway. My question is this; will they allow adults to order from the kids menu at TS restaraunts?

Everyone else in my group is interested in places like Jinkos and Tepan Edo, but I really can't justify having her spend $25+ on food that she can't, and won't eat anyway. :confused3

"Officially"--the answer is no, but there is no reason why they couldn't.

For example--I have no real dietary issues. No allergies--no intolerances. Nothing I didn't choose on my own anyway.

Well with my first pregancy--I couldn't tolerate Italian food. :scared1:

So I'm 7 months pregnant and my family wants to go to MK and DH and I tag along. Well they decide they want to eat at Tony's Town Square--every Italian inch of it. So when I booked, they actually were able to help me--the sole non-Italian eating person.

The chef ended up coming to my table since they listed it as a food intolerance and I had my pick of whatever they could get their hands on. I ended up getting a Tuna Fish sandwich. I think it came from the Plaza Restaurant (well--at least the ingredients).

So Disney will accomodate. Note--I wouldn't have died to eat Italian food or anything, but they were no less accomodating to me than they would have been to someone with a very life altering allergy.

You might be able to call ahead and arrange so that you friend will not have issues ordering off of the kid's menu.

The reason they don't want folks ordering off of the kids menu's is they don't want them cheaping out. But when you have someone in your party extremely finicky, I don't think the restaurant should give you a problem in trying to accomodate your friend who has a less of an appetite and prefers more "american" fare.

To be fair, they may charge you a little bit more than a kid's meal, since it is an adult--but if you were to just explain ahead of time what the issue is, they should be able to help you.

If they allow an adult to order the kids meal food they usually serve an adult sized portion and charge an adult sized price. The kids meal food is also generally pretty awful at WDW. She would probably do much better asking to have sauces left off things (which they don't mind at all). AT Jiko's they have a steak and mac and cheese adult entree that gets great reviews or they also offer flatbreads which they can adapt to her tastes. At Teppan Edo the kids food is just smaller portions of the adult food. So if she won't eat the table cooked food or tempura she's pretty much out of luck there.

It can't hurt to ask, but I'd be surprised if many places allow her to do so. I'm not even sure how it would work at Teppan Edo because the kid's menu items are basically the adult items cooked on the grill...I didn't even see a big difference in the size of the meals.

Go ahead and ask, but don't be caught off guard if your answer is no.

I scrolled down a little further, and look! An answer to your question, in a general way. I can't post the link (not enough posts :confused3), but it's in a thread called, "A silly question" I think.
