Question about Kids Meals

Hi everyone! I posted this on the restaurant board but only got one response so I figured I'd ask you guys since this is the Families board.

We have a 1 year old son that is now on whole milk. He drinks it at his 3 meals only. I'm trying to figure out if I need to bring milk with us or if when we get him a kids meal it'll come with milk already. Do most kids meals come with a choice of milk? And if so it is whole milk?

Also, does anyone know if we'd be able to buy yogurt anywhere? He usually has yogurt for his afternoon snack, of course he doesn't have to have it but I'd like to keep things as consistent as I can for his belly since he'll be eating a lot of other foods he doesn't usually eat on a daily basis at home.

Yes, you can get yogurt at POR food court. Most places do serve/offer milk but I don't think it's always whole. WDW has a big push for lower fat and I think that includes the milk offerings.

We bought whole milk and gave that to DS in the morning and then we didn't worry about the rest of the meals having lower fat milk.

My kids always had milk with their kids meal and it was the vitamin D kind. I'm not sure if their were other kinds available. I know you can also het yoghurts in the food courts at the resorts not sure about in the parks

We took DD this past May when she was almost 13 months, so we had just started the whole milk thing as well. At our resort, POFQ, we were able to get her whole milk in the lobby shop, so her morning and evening milk was whole. At the parks, we could only find 2% at most places, so that's what she had for her afternoon milk. I spoke to her pediatrician before we left and he advised me that it would be fine to give her lower fat milk for the entire week if that's all we could find, just give her the highest % they had. Remember, it's only a few days.

We have always given our kids 2% milk from toddlerhood on and they are absolutely fine.

DS has done fine with the lower fat milk at WDW at 13 and 18 months - we had whole milk in the room, but in the park, made do with the lower fat.

For Yogurt - you can find it at some places - in MK: Cosmic Rays and Main Street Backery and Toontown Farmers Market are places I remember. AK - The snack place in Dinoland had yogurt cups. I think there are other places too, I just can't remember where else we bought it.

Columbia Harbour House has Yoplait strawberry yogurt. It's one of the dessert options.

When we went our 14 month old would usually have whole milk in the am from the food court, and then she'd get whatever was available at the table/counter services. Some did not offer whole milk. But there's no problem giving them 1 or 2% milk from time to time either. There was also yogurt in the food court and at the buffets we went to in the am. I also saw it at several counter services. HTH!

As recall, most of the buffets had yogurt. They were the yoplait cups.
Also, many of the TS meals we had had yogurt as a choice.

My mom always gave us 2% milk too.

I buy whole milk even for my 2 year old but only because he SUPER skinny. Even 18month pants fall off of him because he has no waist at all. His doctor encouraged us to stick with whole milk for a little while longer.

I think for the week your child will be fine if all you can find is 2% milk.

Good luck and have a great vacation.
