Question about kid's drinks using Connections Lunch Vouchers

I plan to use one of my child ($12.50) Connections "Vacation Kingdom Lunch Vouchers" for my nephew for lunch at the Sci Fi Drive In. I think he has to order his meal off the kid's menu, right? (He is 5). I plan to eat his appetizer (probably a salad), help him eat his chicken finger entree (as he'll only eat about half) and share a desert.

My questions are:
1. Will the server bring the appetizer with his meal, rather than bring it out first, so we can eat together?
2. Has anyone been given a "hard time" by the CMs when ordering? I mean it's a kid voucher, but it's pretty clear the child isn't planning to eat the appetizer, do they care?
3. And I notice the child's entrees come "with" a drink. Can we request not to get that drink, and order a shake as his drink instead?
Thanks!

Another connections question! When using the Quick and Casual Vouchers, can you "refuse" the automatic side item (like when the hamburger comes with fries, can you JUST get the hamburger) and then choose another side item?

I know I've read on here before that you can "refuse" the fries and it costs like $1 less or something. Just wondering if that would work with the connnections vouchers, like you could order a hamburger and a side salad instead of the fries. Anyone tried that?

Does anyone know when these vouchers expire! I would like to buy some for our trip in jan. 2003. Last year we used the Q&C vouchers and they worked out great. I think you can subsitute a salad for fries for your side w/o a problem. HTH

You should be able to substitue your fries for a salad. You may have a shake for the drink. You may ask that the appetizer be brought out with the entree. Yes, they know you are eating it, but most people on the waitstaff do not care. IMOH you should add a little to the tip (they get 15% from the voucher). If you feel really self conscious about what you are doing just order the salad and a beverage for yourself and tip on that amount (it won't be over $8.00)

I just ordered the QC lunch/dinner vouchers and they have an experiation date of May 2003.

The kids vouchers were not a good value for us at "Le Celliar" recently. The server would not let the kids have a appetizer as she said the voucher clearly states "if there is a Childs Menu avilable they must order from it" The Childs menu has no appetizer. I asked to speak to the mananger who also held firm.
The kids meals were all $4.99 and included the drink. So it would be a big loss to use the 12.50 voucher. We ended up ordering without kids vouchers for my 2 ds's.
We use 2 adult vouchers and split with our 2 dd's.
It was a bit upsetting but it passed. The food is very good
