Question about June-January PI session

My question is about Christmas. I am guessing that you have Christmas off but is it possible to get away for 2 or 3 days for christmas eve and christmas?? How hard is it to get a day off during this PI session?? And how many days are you aloud to take off?? I would like to be with family for thanksgiving and christmas if possible.

From my experience, both as a PI and as a Full-Time CM, that will probably not happen for you. Especially if you are a Management PI - they are usually the ones working holidays so that everyone else can be with family.

Technically, PIs don't get official, paid time off. That's not to say that you can't get unpaid time off if your leader grants it. Everything depends on how busy your area is, and what kind of leader you have. But I would say it is uncommon for PIs to miss 2 or 3 days before or after a holiday. You might be able to swing a day, but probably not 2 or 3. You are a temporary employee while you are a PI, and the vacation time will go to those who are working full-time and have earned it, even in backstage support roles. (i.e. Marketing, Design, Finance, etc.)

No need to worry! You will only be down here a short time, and it's only one Holiday season. If you stay on afterwards, you'll be able to get the time off the following year!

Well I would be a marketing PI and I believe their marketing PIs work in the Celebration office locations. I just looked and Christmas is on Friday of next year so would I have weekends off since it is an office role rather than a park or resort role??? Also, how much do marketing positions earn? (both PI and salary ) thanks

I agree with the last poster: don't count on the time off; you may or may not be able to get it and you won't know for sure until you ask your leader. I will say that a large part of the business for the entire year at WDW Resort is booked during January and February, so December can be a busy time getting materials ready for distribution. For all anybody knows there could be a big project happening in your department during December and they'll need you working. The show goes on and professionalism is the key. (That's a link to Lee Cockerell's blog on the topic from today--I found it a particularily good reminder.)

I know that's a wishy-washy answer, but you'll be a lucky person if/when you land that PI, so keep the big picture in mind!

Thanks for the reply and that was a nice read by Mr. Cockerell although I do not see how it relates to my question but it was very nice anyway. Also do you know if the office jobs at Disney (particularly marketing) have the traditional workweek of 8-5 monday through friday or is like the Park and resort roles where they work 7 days a week?

Depending on who your leader is and how busy your department is, you may or may not be able to get additional unpaid time off.

In a Marketing PI you will make anywhere from $11-$12/ hour, depending on the role and your education and experience.

No - those are typically held for Full-Time Cast. Although it might happen for a Management PI, depending on area need.
