Question about January promotion

My family will be arriving on 1/5 - the day play/stay/dine starts. We are thinking about arriving a few days early. I always thought that if you started your stay during a promotion and the promotion ended prior to your departure, your entire vacation was still covered in the promotion. Am I right in believing that it does not happen the other way around - I can't include my days prior to 1/5 in the promotion. I would have to book a separate stay, right?? I would have to book 1/2-1/4 separate from 1/5-1/8???? Thanks for any help!!!

That sounds right. You cannot start early but you can extend it out if you start within the promotion period. One way you may be able to save is on the tickets. I am not sure if you can pick up and use your park tickets under SPD before your SPD resort stay begins. I know you can use them after your SPD reservation ends.We have a split stay during Mardi Gras. SPD at POR from March 2-5, then a room only at Poly until the 7th. We got 6 day tickets under SPD to cover the whole trip. When you book, ask the CM. A 7 day ticket will be a lot cheaper than a 3 day and a 4 day.

That is what I was going to try and do. I know you can pick tickets up a few days ahead of your reservation at guest services. I was going to get a 6 day ticket and have 2 days before and 1 day after. We'll see - thanks for your response
