Can you fit more in a deluxe room? Right now we have 2 rooms at the poly....my family of 4 in one and the grandparents in another. We have the AAA rate of $258 (287 w/tax) and are waiting for sept codes, but should we be thinking of combining all 6 of us into 1 room. Would there be enough room/beds for all of us?
As
Luv2Travel mentioned....
vossjemi - The deluxe hotels sleep 5. They normally have 2 queen beds and a daybed. There is an extra charge also for more than 2 adults in one room, so I think the 2 rooms are your best option. However, what you may want to consider is renting points for your stay at one of the DVC resorts. I didn't suggest this to the OP because for her situation I don't believe it would work out as well,
BUT in your case, I think it would probably be wonderful
AND save you quite a bit of money! Here is a great example of what you could do and how much $$ you can save
As of now you have booked 2 rooms at the Poly in Sept. for $287 per night which includes your taxes and is with the AAA rate. Which comes to:
$574 per night for 2 rooms - which comes out to $4,018.00 total assuming you are staying for a full week - 7 nights.
Now, Sept. is in the lowest point season for DVC. You can rent points for a stay in a 2bdrm villa which will sleep up to 8 people at any of the DVC resorts. 2bdrm villas come with the following: a full living room with a pull out sleeper sofa (sleeps 2),full kitchen with all the ammenities - fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, pots, pans, cooking utensils,plates,glasses,etc.etc. In room full size washer & dryer, master bdrm with king bed(sleeps 2 more),master bath with stand up shower, sinks, jacuzzi tub,2nd bdrm with 2 queen beds (or 1 queen bed and a pull out sleeper sofa - depending on which resort and set up you choose) sleeps 4 more and another bathroom w/shower/tub,sink/vanity. And balcony's.
Okay here is where the savings really come into play: to rent points at OKW resort (which has the most spacious of all the DVC's) points for that same stay in Sept. but staying in a 2bdrm villa would cost you:
218 pts for 1 full week including the weekend nights. The going rate for renting points is $10 per point. Assuming that's how much you rent your points for, your stay to rent 218pts would cost you
$2,180.00 for a 7 night stay. If you chose to stay at VWL or BWV's in a preferred catagory villa in a 2bdrm it would cost
270pts which would cost
$2,700.00 for a 7night stay.
So in the end you are spending :
$2,180.00 or
$2,700.00 depending on which resort you choose, instead of
$4,018.00 a huge savings of either
$1,838.00 or $1,318.00 - and there's no taxes on that for a much more spacious villa and you can all stay together and yet still have your privacy from each other - but for dramatically less and with more ammenities. Not to mention, if you so choose, you could save on a few meals since you'd have a kitchen
Now, I'm aware that renting points is not for everyone and that it takes alot of trust on both sides - the renter and the rentee - but it would cost almost 1/2! So if you find the right person to rent from that you're comfortable with, it really may be something to consider.
