We are hoping to go this may, if codes come out. :scared: It is going to be DH, me, DS 4, DS, 3, DS, 2, and DS 4 months. Are our only options POR-AB section? We can't afford a delux or home away from home, also even if we could aford it we sure as heck aren't getting 2 rooms and having our very young children in a different room. Has anyone had experience with this? If you have 2 that are crib age do they allow you to be in a room that doesn't have sleeping room for 5? We have stayed at POR before, but would love to be able to try out the mansions or CBR. But if that's all there is then, at least we are at Disney! :teeth:

oooops,
I typed a message and then realised I miscounted the kids! So there are 6 of you but two under 3. I don't know if that's allowed. Have you input the details into Disney.com? Try that and see what comes up. Good luck!!!

Your baby is gorgeous!!!! Congratulations!

We stayed at YC club with 5 ppl and 2 infants before. All were accounted for and I even spoke with the manager to make sure it was okay. We only had 1 crib in the room for our 5 month old and our 2.5 yr old slept with us, as he did at home.

Are our only options POR-AB section?
It is one of the only options of 2 in the moderate resort catagory unfortuneatly.

Resorts you may be interested in checking out beyond POR-AB with the trundle bed option would be:

CSR in a jr. suite - sleeps 6 and is the other option in the moderates
WL in a jr.suite - sleeps 6
Not sure what they run but may not be too bad if you can get a discount code?!

FW Cabins - sleeps 6 and I've seen these for as low as $144 per night with a discount code...may actually be the most affordable other than POR-AB.

You may want to check out Swan & Dolphin...have heard of people getting really great rates there and also I've heard they have a roll-away bed too...may be worth checking out;)

Beyond that onsight I think the only options are the deluxes or DVC's.

Best of luck:)

Can you fit more in a deluxe room? Right now we have 2 rooms at the poly....my family of 4 in one and the grandparents in another. We have the AAA rate of $258 (287 w/tax) and are waiting for sept codes, but should we be thinking of combining all 6 of us into 1 room. Would there be enough room/beds for all of us?

I would say the cabins at fort wilderness also. The rates are great considering you basically have your own little house, full kitchen, larger bathroom. Fort wilderness is great for kids.

vossjemi - The deluxe hotels sleep 5. They normally have 2 queen beds and a daybed. There is an extra charge also for more than 2 adults in one room, so I think the 2 rooms are your best option.

MommyPoppins - are you set on staying on-site? You could get a suite in a hotel off-site and pay about the same amount of $ as the POR. Not really suggesting you do that, but it's an option.

We brought our 4 kids in 2003. They were 13, 10, 2, and 2. They allowed us to book one room at POR (although we ended up staying at the cabins). I wasn't sure if it was because they are twins, but I imagine kids under 3 don't count in the 5 to a room rule.

By the way, we loved the cabins for our family. All the kids were in the bedroom and hubby and I had the Murphy bed. The only complaint I have was the, ahem, lack of privacy. ;) We're trying 2 rooms at POP this time.

Let me add my support for the cabins. We stayed in one two years ago. The bit of extra room, the full fridge, and the lack of neighbors on the immediate other side of thin hotel room walls made the whole week and getting my three to bed much easier!

Absolutely. We have stayed in Orlando area hotels and have had horrible experiences there. They are just crap. It's on site or nothing. Of course until the baby is too big we can all fit at POR. After that, who knows. Fort Wilderness is too much. We have AP's and if they release codes(the only way we are going to go anyway) then we can get POR really cheap. Also FW would be a waste because we don't need all the space since all of our kids are little. The older ones would sleep together and the baby in a crib. DS2 would sleep with us or on the floor anyway since he is too little for a bed. Also we wouldn't use the kitchen since I don't go on vacation to cook. :earseek:

As Luv2Travel mentioned....vossjemi - The deluxe hotels sleep 5. They normally have 2 queen beds and a daybed. There is an extra charge also for more than 2 adults in one room, so I think the 2 rooms are your best option. However, what you may want to consider is renting points for your stay at one of the DVC resorts. I didn't suggest this to the OP because for her situation I don't believe it would work out as well, BUT in your case, I think it would probably be wonderful AND save you quite a bit of money! Here is a great example of what you could do and how much $$ you can save :teacher:

As of now you have booked 2 rooms at the Poly in Sept. for $287 per night which includes your taxes and is with the AAA rate. Which comes to:$574 per night for 2 rooms - which comes out to $4,018.00 total assuming you are staying for a full week - 7 nights.

Now, Sept. is in the lowest point season for DVC. You can rent points for a stay in a 2bdrm villa which will sleep up to 8 people at any of the DVC resorts. 2bdrm villas come with the following: a full living room with a pull out sleeper sofa (sleeps 2),full kitchen with all the ammenities - fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, pots, pans, cooking utensils,plates,glasses,etc.etc. In room full size washer & dryer, master bdrm with king bed(sleeps 2 more),master bath with stand up shower, sinks, jacuzzi tub,2nd bdrm with 2 queen beds (or 1 queen bed and a pull out sleeper sofa - depending on which resort and set up you choose) sleeps 4 more and another bathroom w/shower/tub,sink/vanity. And balcony's.

Okay here is where the savings really come into play: to rent points at OKW resort (which has the most spacious of all the DVC's) points for that same stay in Sept. but staying in a 2bdrm villa would cost you:218 pts for 1 full week including the weekend nights. The going rate for renting points is $10 per point. Assuming that's how much you rent your points for, your stay to rent 218pts would cost you $2,180.00 for a 7 night stay. If you chose to stay at VWL or BWV's in a preferred catagory villa in a 2bdrm it would cost 270pts which would cost $2,700.00 for a 7night stay.

So in the end you are spending : $2,180.00 or $2,700.00 depending on which resort you choose, instead of $4,018.00 a huge savings of either $1,838.00 or $1,318.00 - and there's no taxes on that for a much more spacious villa and you can all stay together and yet still have your privacy from each other - but for dramatically less and with more ammenities. Not to mention, if you so choose, you could save on a few meals since you'd have a kitchen;)

Now, I'm aware that renting points is not for everyone and that it takes alot of trust on both sides - the renter and the rentee - but it would cost almost 1/2! So if you find the right person to rent from that you're comfortable with, it really may be something to consider.

All her kids are small she will not want them in another room, well atleast I wouldnt want mine in another room. Since the kids are small I would just request a POR room in AB with the trundle and the a crib for the littlest one. The extra charge is only for adults and now there is no charge for the trundle beds anymore.
I do have to admit DVC does have its benefits--which is why we are members!
Having the kitchen is great and the washer and dryer (but they dont come in a studio).

I cant help with the room but I want to say I give you credit for bringing 4 kids under 4. I dont think I could do it lol.

I am expecting my 4th but besides the last 2 they have a large age gap.

When we go the next time as a family of 6 am am looking into renting DVC points.

Have a great trip!!

I completely agree ;) if you notice...I wrote:

My post was mainly directed at vossjemi as she's speaking of paying for 2 rooms and will have the grandparents along. In her case she could put the grandparents in the master bdrm and she,dh and the 2 kids could all sleep in the 2nd bdrm giving them all plenty of space & privacy and the ability to all stay in one room/villa together as well as spending dramatically less.

BTW, just for an FYI, if you stay in a studio, you're correct that they do not have a washer & dryer in the room BUT they do have them throughout the resorts and are free of charge ;) All 1bdrm and larger villas do have them right in the room though. :flower:

Just a word about renting points from a DVC member...I'm doing it for my family's first trip to WDW in June and couldn't be happier. We've already got our confirmation :cool1: We are scheduled to stay in a studio at OKW. As far as I'm concerned...I will NEVER pay rack rates for a WDW resort. The savings are too great to be had by renting points and the home away from home resorts are very appealing for my family... Renting points has made our first trip to WDW possible!

Jeesh..I'm starting to sound like a GEICO commercial..."I saved a lot of money on my WDW stay by renting points from DVC".... :goodvibes

We are a family of five.my girls are 9,9,6.Just got back from staying at POR.It was great. But i have to say we were in the ab section building 27.2 double beds and a trundle.Had to put the clothes in the dresser and put the suitcases under our bed so we could walk.I really don't see where you would put a crib.It was a tight fit for us.I'd try two connecting room at value. One parent in each room,2 bathrooms sounds good too.

couldn't you get connecting rooms at a value (2 doubles and a King)? Wouldn't the door stay open so it would be you would be able to hear the kids in the next room? It's not like you would have 2 rooms apart.

I can't imagine taking that many little kids at one time. Wow!
