Question about holding a room at POP

I would like to book a room at POP using the Best Rate Program from Dec. 25 - Jan. 7 in order to get the AP rate (we are AP holders). The only problem is that we can't get to Disney until the 27th or 28th. I'm not sure if they would hold an empty room or not. Does anyone know? I don't mind paying for the extra days because the savings work in our favour (i.e. $67/night as opposed to $133/night). If they won't do that, the only other thing I could think of was to call a day or so before Christmas and tell them that our van had broken down and we are waiting for a part, which at that point would bring us to the 27th or so.

Any suggestions before I book the dates?

No that won't work. If you aren't there on the first day to check in your reservation will cancel. If you check in on the 27th your rate will be whatever the rate is that day.

That doesn't really make sense to me. What if there is a legitimate excuse (i.e., flight gets cancelled due to bad weather, car really does break down on the way to Disney, etc.). As long as you call the resort, I can't see why they would cancel your reservation. I can see them not holding it forever, but for a day or two????

Had another thought. If I prepay my entire reservation, it shouldn't matter when we arrive as we would have already paid for the room. I may call the resort and ask. Anyone else have any thoughts?

That won't change anything. If you aren't there to check in your reservation will cancel.
