Question about Haunted Mansion Queue

this might be true, since its not skipping the line, but honestly, if a child is too scared for this preshow, the ride may terrify them, think of before the drop, when the ghost are on both sides, the glass mirror breaking in the distance, the various experinces you may enconter during the ride such as lightning effects, etc...

My DD5 has ridden ToT at least 20 times, but just recently doesn't like the movie in the library. The rest of the ride doesn't seem to bother her and she knows what to expect. Who knows why the movie is scary to her while the rest isn't? :confused3 When I told her that she might be able to ride it without the movie, she was really excited. I think we'll try it on our trip in July.

My cousin was always petrified of the stretch room, but not of the ride itself. So, I can see how one would be afraid of just the stretching room. I actually told DD7 (on our last trip) to close her eyes because I didn't know if the hanging body would upset her. But she was fine on the actual ride. And she did open her eyes on future visits and was okay.

Is it the woman with the umbrella picture that you should stand under? Can anyone confirm?

Thank you!

Wendy

Best thing to do is what ever side of the fireplace you walk into the stretching room on stay to that side. The doors open to the area that would be behind the fireplace. Usually you can see a little light coming in under the door but not much. I always make my family stand to that side and it drives my DW nuts. She gives me that "oooohhh you think you know so much" look every time:).

Good luck!!!

Are you sure you should even take her on the ride if this is a concern? I would think that some of the stuff inside would be more bothersome to small child than the stretching room.
My DD loves the HM ride itself but she dreads the stretch room. She is ASD so the enclosed space really freaks her out.

I'm sure other children (even those that are not autistic) feel the same.

She was thrilled when we were able to skip the stretch room.

My six year old doesn't mind the ride but the stretching room scares her! I am so glad to hear we can do this! Thanks everyone!

My 4 yr old was fine with the ride...the stretch room scared her silly. Why? because of all the people that decide to SCREAM like Banshees when the lights go out.The loud screaming in the dark scares her. The ride she liked. The 2nd time we skipped the stretch room and it was much better

DW and I had FPs for the MK last year. We decided to use one at the HM and the CM escorted us to the "Full of Fright" hallway. At that point we were given the option of skipping the stretching room if we wanted to. Since it was just DW and myself we enjoyed the room.

Although I remember going to WDW 20+ years ago when I was a young child and waiting online for the HM. After a 2 hour wait we approached the door and I started crying and didn't want to go any further. My father looked at my mother and said "keep his head in your lap, we are going on the ride!" It was the best thing he could have done. I eventually opened my eyes and enjoyed the Mansion. For the rest of my life I remembered the Ballroom Scene and the Hitchhiking Ghosts in the mirrors. But for some reason Mr. Toads Wild Ride always wigged me out. :scared:

My youngest hated the stretching room too last time (he was almost 2). I had no idea we could skip it! He was fine until the thunder/lightning. I may have him skip it again. He was really scared during a storm the other night.

Do any of you know if we can skip it and then meet back up with the rest of our family as they exit the stretch room?

Sandra

my daughter, now 7 has tried the last 2 trips to do HM with me. She gets in the entrance and then sees that aging picture over the fire place and chickens out. I always give her credit for trying. She has rode it before and loves the ride, if she can get past the pitcure on the fireplace. Personally, I never liked the stretch room. That moment of darkness seems like an hour to me. I wonder if we skip the stretch, it will minimize her time in the fireplace room? :confused3
