Well, after 2 years of going back and forth about DVC, hubby and I are about ready to bite the bullet and buy 160 points at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Here is the thing. I am not crazy about the sales rep. It isn't anything specific, I guess just a feeling. She kind of makes me feel like she is doing me a favor by selling me DVC. At any rate, will this sales rep. be my guide always? Or do you get a guide assigned to you after purchase? Should I request a new sales rep, after all, this is a huge purchase for our family? I am just a bit uneasy with this sales rep. Thanks.

I believe that the sales rep your assigned stays with you unless they leave DVC. I would also want to assume that you could request another guide, you are the consumer. I am sorry to hear about your discomfort with the guide that you have. Call and ask for Judy Kaufman, hopefully she isn't the one giving you the problem, and run your scenerio by her. I found her to be helpful, fair, and not pushy at all. Good Luck

I guess I should clarify. I was wondering how much dealings do you have with your guide after sale? For example, if you have questions, do you call your guide, or some kind of member services?

We bought at OKW in 1994. Shortly after we bought our guide transferred to HHI so we were assigned a new one, Bruce Douglas. The first time we talked to Bruce was when we added on at OKW a couple of years later. The next contact we had with him (other than receiving fliers on new developments) was three years ago when we were at WDW with some friends who wanted to take the tour. Since they were with us, they scheduled us with Bruce. After the tour our friends bought and we also found ourselves with another 160 points as well. I suppose every guide is a little different but if we need additional points we call Bruce, otherwise we call Member Services for all other questions. Other than a follow up on a purchase, I don't recall Bruce ever calling or contacting us without first hearing from us.

Like any sales situation, it depends on the Guide. Some are very active, others you never hear from. Your Guides job is to sell you property. If they feel that you are a active buyer they will stay in contact. If they feel that you are no longer a hot prospect, you could have trouble getting a return call. We gave our first Guide a chance but things didn't work out. Our current guide, Kelly Jo Williamson has told us to contact her if we have any problems that we can't work out through normal channels. She sends out the normal DVC mailings. She also calls and leaves a voice mail to say hi if we are at WDW. All Guides are notified by the DVC reservation system when Members are on property.

Ron Brumbaugh is our WONDERFUL guide. We regularly (every couple of months) keep in contact with him with questions, comments and of course additional points. His DVC knowledge is second to none! What I really liked is that he advised us when we were adding on and didn't just sell us the points.

So, in answer to your question...you can potentially have a lot of contact with your guide. Being comfortable with him/her, I believe, is essential!

The guides work for you, indirectly. You are the customer/consumer that pays their salary. If you are uncomfortable with that person for whatever reason then by all means request a different guide.

We had an issue with a car/home/life insurance agent several years ago. We wanted to switch agencies. I got a call from the district rep trying to pressure me into staying with the current agent. I flat out told the rep that if they didn't allow me to trade agents with no cost to the new agent I'd find someone else to write my policies. They switched me.

disney may be the only game there on Disney property for what we want but they will go out of their way to make you happy.
