Question about groom's cake.

Any past Disney Brides happen to know about how much most groom's cakes run for Disney?

y'know I don't know the actual cost of a "grooms cake" but for my honeymoon I having a surprise cake made for my sweetie and it's going to be a pretty decent size round cake w/ Mickey and Minnie in chocolate and some writing on it...and that's running me about $45...I should hope that it won't cost much more than that...unless it's something really fancy!!! Of course the fancier the cake the more it will cost but I think there could be a tendency to *ahem* overcharge b/c it's a wedding related cake, but I wanted to give you an idea of what other cakes cost at Disney!!!

I'm from Texas where everyone has grooms cakes at their weddings as it is a southern tradition...a lot of people on the west coast where we are getting married are saying "What's a GROOMS CAKE?!" Why would you have that?! Because my darling WANTS a cake in the shape of a basketball with orange icing SO THERE!!!

Well...I just pulled up the cake pricing list and the groom's cake was the only one that said "call for pricing"...lol, that's probably the info you already had! Sorry!

I just had to say that I'm from the west coast and the only reason I know about a grooms cake is because of the scene in Steele Magnolias...the armadillo with grey icing and blood red cake inside!!!

I do think it's a awesome tradition though...in most cases the groom gets so little input (if any at all ) so letting him have his own little cake decorated how every he wants seem like a small concession in the grand scheme of things. If fact, I think I may look into this for dh2b (whadya mean we can't have spinkles on our cake??)

I ordered a half sheet cake with an image of Lilo and Stitch on top (feeds 40). It is a very basic cake, and it is going to cost $120. I imagine that an elaborate cake (unique shape) would cost much more than that. Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your input. . There was a cake on this board I love in the shape of Texas. Unfortunately it seems that person doesn't come on anymore but ty for the prices you could give me. Yeah usually groom's don't do much on weddings but luckily for me she's letting me help, which is what I wanted since this is both of our days and 2 isbetter than 1. We have agreed 100% on almost everything that we picked. Ya'll have a great day!!!

Grooms cakes are so completely different, it is impossible for WDW to have a blanket price for them. No 2 are alike. Each grooms cake is priced on difficulty and size. Difficulty translates into how many hours will it take the pastry chefs to complete the guest request, and size as to how much product will be used in the creation.

this cake was over $1200 5 years ago.

That Herbie cake is pretty awesome, not something that I would necessarily want but an awesome creation on the part of the pastry chefs
