We will be going to Disney in a few months and have 4:00 reservations at the Trex restaurant. I didn't want a reservation that early but that is the only time available during our trip. We will be at AK that day.

About what time will we need to leave AK to make it to downtown Disney by 4:00. I want to make sure we will have plenty of time at AK. We have never been to DD so I have no idea how far away it is.

Is there a bus that will pick us up at AK and take us to Downtown Disney?

Thanks!

Honestly, I would consider switching to Rain Forrest Cafe at AK. The food is VERY similar with just a different theme. SOO much easier. I do not think there is a bus to AK though I may be wrong. You would be best to take a bus to a close by resort and catch the bus from there. CRS is not too far from there and has a great bus service.

To go from AK to DD I would take the AKL bus and from there go direct to DD. As far as how long it would take :confused3 It all depends on how long you wait on each bus. It could take as little as 30min. if the buses are timed just right for you to over an hour. We've had both experiences. Personally, I would allow 1 1/2 hours, then if you get to DD early you could always walk around some and have more peace of mind. Enjoy ;)

There are no buses from DTD to parks. You would have to transfer at a resort. I would take the bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and then transfer to the DTD bus, as suggested above.

When you say it was the only time during your trip that was available...was that according to the WDW website and ADR booking tool? If so, call T-Rex direct. I read somewhere that they only put so many time slots on the Disney website. If you call, you may get something better.

I called last night because there was nothing on the WDW site. I was able to get 6:15 pm on the day I wanted with out a problem. That wasn't listed online.

The number is: 407-828-8739. Good luck!

We were able to do TRex walk up in May with no problem even when there was nothing available on Disney website.

My family liked the DTD TRex better than the AK Rainforest Cafe. However, if I had the choice between walking right into Rainforest from AK versus:
1. leaving AK
2. walking to the buses
3. waiting for a bus to a resort
4. waiting at the resort for a different bus to DTD
all for eating at Trex, there's no comparison. Rainforest would win hands down.

IMO, unless you can get a later ADR or are willing to try a walk up, you are cheating you and your family out of maximizing your AK time just for a dinosaur meal.

I agree about considering RFC instead of T-Rex, for convenience. RFC and T-Rex are owned by the same company, so their menus are similar. Even the atmosphere is similar.

We also did a walk-up at T-Rex one day in the afternoon and the place was empty. If you don't want to risk going there without an ADR, definitely try calling T-Rex directly for a reservation. They always have more availability than what's available on the WDW web site.

If you make a Rainforest Cafe reservation a tad bit later (4:15/4:30)... you can still see the 3:45pm AK parade. BUT.... we really liked T-Rex... much better than the Rainforest Cafe we used to have at home.

I'd take a taxi from AK park to Downtown Disney... to save time and get dropped off right by the restaurant. If getting a reservation at T-Rex another time is the issue... check out Landry's Select Club. For $25, you can join and get an instant $25 credit at any Landry's restaurant including T-Rex... you also get priority seating (within 20 min) even without a reservation. We did that and were seated immediately despite a long check-in line. http://www.landrysinc.com/selectclub.asp

Thanks! The reason we are going to T-Rex is because we have a 4 year old little boy who LOVES dinosaurs. He is very excited about going there. I will call and see if we can get a later time...didn't know you could do that.

Not sure if it applies to you or not or if it has changed, but so you are aware its not included on dining plan, unless its changed.

T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe are among many DTD restaurants that are now on the DDP. This change occurred on Jan 1, 2012.

Definitely call the restaurant for a later time. When we booked for our last trip there was nothing left on the WDW site for booking. I rang and could pick anytime we wanted. It was all available.
