Question about Give-a-Gift

Hello all. I was out of town during the dates last year to submit names for the Give a Gift event so this will be my first year doing this.

My question is in regards to the "exact" spelling of the VMK Name. Is it case sensitive?

Just for an example, my VMK user name is "cruiselinefan" not Cruiselinefan. So if I had spelled that name with a capital "C" instead of a lower case, would that be consided an incorrect spelling. Several of my friends have both upper and lower case letters within their VMK user name and I don't want to mess it up.

Anybody know for sure?

Yes. It is case sensitive. Last year FlyingPegasus didn't get some that she was supposed to get because they forgot to capitalize the P.
So make sure you have the correct spelling and capitalization.

If you can get screen shots, I would suggest everyone take a screen shot
of your friends list. That way, you'll be sure to get the proper spelling
and capital letters.

Last year, some of my friends didn't get the gift because of the capital letters
problem.

The idea was actually "spoken in VMK" by melkrirob. She gets the credit on
the idea. I thought it was a good idea, enough to post it here.

The "F" and the "P" are both capitalized in FlyingPegasus.

From what I gather, if it is misspelled and they can't deliver it, you will not be charged. You will probably be charged after it is delivered.

I can't do screenshots either so I went low tech and just hand wrote the list. I don't have a lot of credits so can't send as many out as I'd like; But that made it a short list to write at least.

That's a good point. Do we as the sender get some kind of receipt that persons XYZ and PDQ received their gifts from us and we've been charged a 1000 credits? Or just on the 26th we come in a grand poorer and hope XYZ and PDQ received our gifts... but then... if it's anonymous and say XYZ receives a handful of gifts (PDQ is just not as popular) then how can we be sure the they got ours and not just from their other friends? Hmmm...

You simply do not know... Last year you got no notification that the gifts you sent went to those you sent them too and the person receiving the gifts gets no notice as to who they come from- and looks like this year will be just the same.

I wish they'd come up with an in game gifting mechanism- where you could buy items and choose give as gift and they would go to the person you send them to in the game with a message that says CharacterX has sent you a yellow candy cane- won't you be the envy of all the kingdom" That way you could give what you want- if you didn't have the 500 credits you could send Jack Skelington pins for 25 credits...

I guess the idea is to send a message yourself to those you gift that you gifted them- of course if they only get one message and one gift then they know yours arrived- but if they get lots of gifts from lots of people then who knows if they got all they should or not...

I suppose we all just have to have some holiday faith that it will all work out- but I do caution people to remember how much they spend since last year they did put some people into the negative after the gifts were sent
