Question about gift cards and dining?

I am thinking about booking the $500 gift card package for our trip in december. can we use the gift card for dining? I'd rather use the gift card for dining then get the dining plan since I will not be able to afford the deluxe room with dining added. can anyone tell me if this is possible?? Thank you!

It was the last time we used a gift card promotion.

I took my own gift cards for our July trip (we were on the DxDDP) and was able to use the gift card for tips and for the occasional extra child's meal for my youngest DD. I also used it for adult drink's and tips. HTH.
