Question about getting tickets early and MB /FP+ implications

I read CheshireFigments awesome ticket FAQ and it's an amazing resource I still have a couple of questions related to MB's / FP+'s though.

My issue, we are trying to do this trip on the cheap since we are building a new house this year. With a family of 5 POR with the 30% room discount comes out to $157 a night. POR is booked before we can check in so we'll be off site for 3 days before we get on property. From CF's thread we can pick up tickets up to 3 days in advance.

One quick question on that if we check in on Tuesday the 20th, that would mean Saturday the 17 would be as soon as we could pick up tickets, correct? Sort of sad because we can be in Orlando and do parks starting on the 16th.

* I have MB's from last September, so if need be I could use those instead of the new ones they will be shipping.

So my other questions would be:

1- Will the new tickets go on our MB's or on a separate card? Neither is a deal break, I'm just curious.

2- Once we check in, will everything be on a MB or will the tickets still be on a separate card? Again, not the end of the world, just curious.

3- is the big question... how will this affect early FP+ reservations? Will they all be reset / lost or will the system figure it out?

Thanks!

You didn't say when you were going, so a lot of things could change between now and then, but if you're going this month, here's how it stands (but again it could change).

Currently, every resort stay you get new MB's. You can use either.

1/2. the tickets go on your MDE account -- you choose how to access them, but I don't think you'll be able to use your MBs until they're activated at check in

3. until they allow offsiters to make advance reservations, you can only do so starting with check-in day. So not the 3 days you're offsite prior to that.

Sorry, in May. Check in right now is the 20th. Trying to move it up to the 19th... every room there is booked on that day. Weirdness.

Thanks.

It looks like I don't have to buy tickets with the room discount in May.

I wonder if I should just buy tickets from Undercover tourist or something similar instead of with the room and completely skip all the drama...

Never bought tickets from anyone other than WDW though. If they are 'real' I should still be able to link them in MDE and book FP+ in advance for the nights I have booked on property right?

Yes they are real and you can link them in mde and make FP reservations 60 days prior to your onsite check in.

Thank you.

I should have upgraded to AP's last Sept.

I might go AP this trip depending on what happens with the house build and if I can still keep my bounce back to Poly later this year.
